Slopelitter 3 Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Friend uses his phone to watch media seems to always want to transcode. When he is transcoding my front room LG tv will freeze up. If I disable transcoding for his user account, it seems to resolve this. He says the video playback doesn't look good. I originally had emby server insatlled on my TrueNas server, but it was causing the CPU to spike when transcoding. I moved the Emby server over to a older windows 10 game box I just replaced with a new game box. I figured this older AMD FX-8350 would be enough HP to run this doesn't seem to be.
Luke 42083 Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
rbjtech 5284 Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 (edited) Your hardware is unfortunately not up to the task of transcoding. Some possible options to resolve - install an graphics card to do the transcoding (cpu botleneck) offload the transcoding temporary storage to an SSD (storage bottleneck) A better option may be to install the graphics card in the TrueNAS server (for transcoding) - depending on it's cpu/memory etc - as the storage will then remain local.
