Okay thanks, but the link the other person provided seems to say that you have to have brackets etc. That guide is either wrong or confusing.

For naming the folder on the file system you can put it like that, but when using the identify feature you only put in the ID.

It looks like you might have this series in a movie library? I keep seeing type=movie in the get URI.

Yes as Lessaj said you can not query TV in a Movie library or vice versa as /Movie and /Series are independent query fields searchs

Okay yes it was put in a movie selection by mistake when I first set up the library. I didn't change it because I didn't think it mattered. Does it really have to be in a TV library for the correct ID? I thought the ID number would override whatever folder it's in.

Yes it needs to be in the correct library type for metadata to work.

Yes or you have to use Mixed Content Type library as specific library type are limited to their search parameters.

I guess to elaborate on that is providers can have the exact same id on /movie and /tv making them to different things with the same id number.

Okay thanks so how do I set up a mixed content type library search criteria?. This library has already been set up as mixed content.

Then Emby does not know this is a Series.  I will guess either structure or naming scheme issue.

Okay thanks. I can't see any way of moving these files which emby has identified as movies into the section that's marked as 'shows'. I think it's going to be easier if I put these individual episodes into one folder on my phone and then ask emby to scan again.

Yes you need to have distinct folders for each library type, so you have a library for movies with an associated movies folder, and a library for shows with an associated shows folder.

Actually that's not quite true for a mixed content library.  The problem was that I had each individual episode of Kleo in its own folder on my phone, this caused emby to think they were individual movies. Now that I've moved these individual episodes into one folder marked Kleo and rescanned, emby has identified that it's a TV series and automatically moved it into the section marked 'shows', it also automatically populated the artwork and backdrops etc. Thanks very much to you and the others that help me get around this

Yes for mixed content that wouldn't necessarily be the case, but then yes it comes down to proper folder structure to determine if it's a series or a movie. Not sure I'd recommend a mixed content library for this purpose.

Mixed Content has the same requirements as a TV show library and all episodes must be in their own Series folder at a minimum with SxxEyy identifiers but preferably season folders also.

So can you go over your actual folder structure and naming scheme.

I don't have that many files in my library before I delete them, maybe about 20 or so. It will be more unnecessary work for me to move individual files into shows and movies categories on my phone once they've been downloaded. Especially as emby seems to be doing a pretty good job of identifying and categorizing what they are anyway as long as I, as you say, have the folders structured correctly.

Without a real example something is wrong with Kleo as Emby thinks it is a Movie so only way that can happen is structure/naming scheme.  As Emby must have some sort of identifier to detemine if Movie or TV Show in a mixed content environment.  Usally season folders but can fall back to episode naming scheme but requires episode in their own parent Show folder.
