Anime Episode Metadata

Greetings Everyone,

I've been searching the net in regards to anime episode meta data not being added for certain series.  First off I am using the requested file and folder structure:

tv shows

       classroom of the elite

                 season 1

                           classroom of the elite S01EP02.mp4

                  season 2

I also know that the information is being pulled from the TVDB.  I've also noticed that all the episode descriptions for the series on tvdb that aren't imported are also defaulted to Japanese.  Thats my guess why its not being uploaded since i'm defaulting everything to English. Once I sign into theTVDB.com everything auto translates to English... so I suppose my question is:  is there a way to modify the TVDB meta to have it either sign in or use the Unique user key (that's in the TVDB account) so that it might access the english versions or is that even possible?

You're not, that is not one of the officially supported episodes naming convention:

Quote

Episode naming conventions

A number of naming conventions are supported:

  • show name - S01E01 - Episode Name.ext
  • show name S01E01 Episode Name.ext
  • anything_s01e02.ext
  • anything_s1e2.ext
  • anything_s01.e02.ext
  • anything_s01_e02.ext
  • anything_1x02.ext
  • anything_102.ext
  • anything_1x02.ext
  • 02 Episode Name.ext
  • s01e02.ext
  • 1x02.ext

Rename, rescan, and we can continue from there.

Modified the filenames as stated, also completely removed the library and re added it (its a small test library) and it still only shows the filename as written.

small note... if the tvdb default descriptions are in english then it imports without incident.

If translation exists on TVDB you should get those, else it'll fallback to default series language (TVDB policy). For the episodes that you're getting in Japanese, does the translation actually exists in English (not what your browser translates, is there English tab/button on TVDB's series page beneath Title/Synopsis)?

I double checked to make sure it was not browser translation.  Happened with all the browsers,  Using Classroom of the Elite series as an example, if your not logged into TVDB the episode pages are in Japanese, However if you log in with a user account POOF english I tried that on a couple browsers

Could you remove Classroom of the elite from your library, run Scan media library scheduled task, run Rotate log file scheduled task, put Classroom of the elite back, Scan media library and post server log?

Don't quite follow as your episodes are still Classroom Of The Elite S02ep13 per that log.  But currently it is not supported in 4.7 but will be in 4.8.x.x.

But as to metadata it comes back to what the Emby online providers have.  You can try the Anime, AniList, AnSearch, MyAnimeList plugins (in catalog) also but naming scheme would still be a factor.

Ok as far as the naming showing wrong.. I only updated season 1... I've tried most of those plugins but isnt pulling the episode information but I have the rest....

I'll go back in and reset the EP to E and give it another whirl.. and i'll try out the plugins I don't have.. see if any magic happens :)

Thanks everyone for your time... the quest continues for the perfect built library :P

Emby has three levels to apply metadata language options.

Globally Library-Advanced tab (applies to all levels by default)

In per Library setup so you can set a library to a specific language.

And via every movie/show to allow only that show in a specific language.

Set to Japanesse, Japan

Changing back to default English, US (languages can be problematic when changing when there is no translations).

As here is maintained Season overview as there is no translation on TMDB.
