Computer sleeps while watching Emby

Recommended Posts

I upgraded (and I use that term loosely) from Windows 10 to 11 and now when I'm watching Emby my computer goes to sleep.  How do I stop this?

Try changing Sleep settings?

Yes of course I can turn off the sleep mode on my computer but it used to be automatic in windows 10.  My computer used to sleep according to its settings but Emby would prevent it from sleeping while watching something on Emby.  That is what I'd like to happen.  I thought it was a setting somewhere but I can't find it.

Hi, what Emby app are you watching with? is it on the same machine as the server?

I am using Emby on my Roku device hooked to my TV and watching content from my Desktop PC in my office in the same house.  Before switching to Win 11 Emby used to keep my PC from sleeping while I was watching something on the TV but now while I'm watching my PC goes to sleep and I have to go wake it up every 30 minutes which is what I have the sleep mode set to on the PC.

@BushWacker can you please attach the emby server log from an example session? Thanks.

Means click on topic title or arrow top-right. It's a linked topic.

What time did you start playing and what time did it sleep? Are you sure this is the right log? It appears to be a one minute log from starting up the server.

Sorry, I didn't keep track of the times, it has happened several times now.  I switched a setting on my VPN to keep the computer from going to sleep that might have fixed the problem, I won't know until I watch something again. Yes I probably sent you the wrong log, I thought it would all go to you in one log.  Here are the logs (attached) that would have been for the evenings I was watching when my computer went to sleep mode.  I will be watching and it would just stop and when I go back to my office the computer has gone to sleep.  Thank you for the assistance...

@BushWacker are you sure that Roku was still playing? It appears to have gone idle at 22:25, and then the system went to sleep 18 minutes later..

I can't say.  I had a complete system crash and couldn't even restore with my backups and had to rebuild from scratch.  I used it last night and it didn't sleep through a 3 hour movie so it probably had something to do with my system settings.  I do appreciate the follow up and assistance, thank you.
