Howdy!

I could have sworn there use to be a way to do this, but I can't seem to find the option. Is there anyway to setup Emby to restart every night, let's say around 3am, automatically. I can't seem to find a way to enable scheduling this. Any help would be super appreciated!~

There was back in the day, had been discontinued AFAIK.

If running Emby as a service, you could create scheduled task to restart.

Why do you think you need to restart the server every night?

@LukeI once reported and extremly high memory usage, you might remember.

General solution was removing plugins, in this case it was the "SmartPlaylist" plugin.

Even though I see an incline in memory usage by emby I cannot fathom in any way.

It's not as enormous as in the linked topic anymore.

When I restart the emby app it's memory usage is about 0.3GB on my Synology.

Daily restart is set to 2:45am.

This was the only user activity on my emby server today, playtime of 5 episodes-

Additionally I added another tvshow season plus 3 other episodes to my emby library.

And right now my memory usage by emby ist at 1.26GB (while my db is around 0.15GB of size).

As my DS920+ officially only supports 8GB of memory and I run several docker containers (i.e tinymediamanager, paperlessngx)

memory is a rare good.

I upgraded to, not officially supported, 20GB memory in my NAS this week, nontheless I like to

keep general memory consumption low. So I ended up restarting emby server every night.

I also like to reboot it as it 100% clears the transcode folder, cleans up memory usage, and guarantees come the next day, I along with ALL my users wake up to a snappier happier emby.

I've even had compliments from my users that since I started doing a daily restart of the software (not that they know that is what I am doing) that everything is always snappy. Well that, and all the caching strategies I setup in general around the system. This whole month has been the month of fine tuning my server :)

I'll let you guys know if I have any problems with the plugin.

Yes I have! :) I loved the fact you guys finally added that to the GUI instead of having to do it with the XML file.

Just had time to install the plugin and set it up.

Thank you for making that easy @Chef

Server now reboots on the daily and I have one less thing on my list to worry about.

Happy Monday everyone!
