HTanner 3 Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 (edited) Animaniacs started up again in 2020. Wikipedia and IMDB started new pages for this series, but the TVDB shows these new seasons as added to the original Animaniacs from 1999 (which had 5 seasons). The problem is, TVDB named the new seasons like this "Season 6 - Hulu Season 1". Emby seems to have a problem with this, as I've named my folders like this "Season 06" but Emby only shows my season 1 through 5. I've tried renaming my folder as "Season 06 - Hulu Season 01", but Emby still only shows the first 5 seasons. I've complained to the TVDB, but I doubt anything will get done. So Emby needs to properly handle this anomaly. Edited February 19, 2023 by HTanner
GrimReaper 4740 Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 (edited) Hm, that's strange as Season name should not affect scraping, otherwise any other show with named seasons would have issues, like: https://thetvdb.com/series/his-dark-materials#seasons Can you remove that season, scan media library, put it back as Season 6, scan library again and post server log? Edit: How are the files within named? Edited February 19, 2023 by GrimReaper Afterthought
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 (edited) Not sure the issue you are having as they have an aired order unless you do not have that verision ie Alternate/Joined order as Emby does not support it yet. But TMDB does have them as Animaniacs (2020) in single episode order also. Animaniacs (TV Series 2020-2023) — The Movie Database (TMDB) (themoviedb.org) May need more info. Had no issues with one episode in normal Season x folders Edited February 19, 2023 by Happy2Play
HTanner 3 Posted February 19, 2023 Author Posted February 19, 2023 I think I see the problem. I use the "Rename My TV Series" app to rename my shows, but somehow it missed seasons 6-8. So those episodes were still named as I downloaded them, where what should be S06E01 is named S01E01. I'm going to fix the episode names and try scanning the library again. I'll report back when it's done.
HTanner 3 Posted February 19, 2023 Author Posted February 19, 2023 Nope. Didn't work. Here's screenshots. Root folder. You can see only seasons 1 through 5 have been processed. Here's the beginning of the Season 01 folder, which works: Here's the beginning of the renamed Season 06, which still isn't getting loaded: Here's a screen shot of Emby after Scanning Library Files: As you can see, there's no seasons 6 through 8.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Have you verified the nfo information for the episodes? 1

This is why using shitty 3rd party renaming apps cause problems when emby can rename your media just as good if not better! NFO... I think you know what I think about that... Sorry @GrimReaper, I know you have no other choice but that's a different story.... Edited February 19, 2023 by Junglejim
HTanner 3 Posted February 19, 2023 Author Posted February 19, 2023 I just checked the nfo's. Season 6 is being identified as Season 1, Season 7 as Season 2, and Season 8 as Season 3. I've tried editing the nfo's but Emby just replaces them. This is the nfo from Season 6: This is the nfo from Season 1: As you can see, it's misidentifying Seasons 6 through 8 as Seasons 1 through 3. And I have no idea how to fix this!
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 But did you delete them when they were first made against the the wrong naming scheme? I guess you could Identtify the Show again to clear out metadata and replace.

So I tried refreshing the metadata. It again marked the new seasons with the wrong season numbers. So then I did Identify it again, and it again marked them as the wrong seasons. I have no idea how to correct this. I assume the wrong info is in a DB somewhere, and Emby just keeps reloading it from there, but I have no idea where that DB is or how can can fix it.

Deleting the nfo files will not clear what is already imported into the db it will just rewrite existing metadata. You need to Identify the Show again or remove Show/Seasons, delete nfos, Full library scan, readd. Edited February 19, 2023 by Happy2Play 1
HTanner 3 Posted February 20, 2023 Author Posted February 20, 2023 I did Identify the show again, but to no avail. I'll try removing the show, deleting the nfo's, doing a library scan, then restoring the show and doing a scan again, as you suggested.
HTanner 3 Posted February 20, 2023 Author Posted February 20, 2023 @Happy2Play, that did it, thanks very much! The problem was caused because of how I originally loaded the show into Emby. I had only downloaded the new Animaniacs 2020 seasons (seasons 1 to 3) and named them as such, calling it "Animaniacs 2020". When Emby couldn't find the show, I looked at the TVDB and found that they only had the new seasons as added to the original 1993 Animaniacs show (the new seasons being 6 to 8). So I downloaded the first 5 seasons, renamed the folder to just "Animaniacs", and renamed the new seasons as 6 to 8, to align with the TVDB. Unfortunately, Emby could not handle this. It continued to see the new seasons 6 to 8 as the originally named seasons 1 to 3. Nothing I could do would fix this. Even re-identifying the show didn't help. To fix it, I moved the entire Animaniacs folder to another disk - this removed the show from Emby, and I confirmed that Animaniacs was no longer in Emby. I then manually renamed all the video files to properly line up with the TVDB episodes (all the new video files contain multiple episodes, which is how I suppose it was shown on TV). When I was done with that, I moved the Animaniacs folder back to the library. I then told Emby to scan that library, and it properly added Animaniacs now. The only remaining issue was that Emby added an end date of 1998 to the show, which is when it originally ended. So I just edited the metadata and removed the end date. It's perfect now! Thanks again, @Happy2Play! 1
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 (edited) I would say just a mis-identification of as show that does not exist on TVDB so Season 1-3 were merged into existing Series per library "Automatically merge series that are spread across multiple folders" setting. As you may have been able to disable this option and Identify via TMDB and locked metadata. Disabled Merge and disable TVDB provider. Only need to tweak title to Animaniacs (2020). Hard to say exactly on end date as mine test shows 1993 – 2023. But may have come back to original Series metadata not updating. But when there are mis-matches like this you just have to do a little bit more work manually. So all in one for TVDB or two separate shows via TMDB depending on your overall strructure/naming.
