Emby only recognizes part of the episodes of an entire show.

I have a folder that stores all the 39 episodes from a show, each with an extra `nfo` possibily file downloaded by Emby. However, in Emby page, only 19 episodes were recognized. Can I get some recommendation how to fix this? Thanks!

EMBY has serious problems when it comes to permissions. I worked as a senior software developer for some time and it's painfully obvious they have a lot of bad code.

EMBY loses track of the existence of files (and entire directories) that it once knew about.

It will refuse to pick up new files placed into an existing directory (one that was fine earlier in the day).

At will also randomly lose all the metadata for your massive library when you tell it to scan for files. Looking for NEW files does not require touching the metadata of the old ones (and yet it kills the metadata). This would be less of a problem if it was right more than 30% of the time. Most of the images I use have to be added manually, as do all the links to IMBD and other sites. I just had this happen again (today) so I get to manually fix several thousand entries.

As far as I can tell the only reason people use EMBY at all is that Plex is worse.

yeah don't listen to that guy. he is obviously just having a bad day. there are no issues, just poor user config. and thats what this is.

you havent followed the required naming conventions https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159110-tv-naming

based on what you have done i woiuld imagine emby thinks you are showing it a movie.

should be DownloadStation\Episodes\The Knockout (2023)\Season 1\The Knockout S01E01.ext

and so on

19 there is not a number of episodes but unwatched episodes counter. And as @Spaceboy stated, you're using unsupported naming scheme that might've caused some of the episodes to end-up multi-versioned. How many episodes are actually listed once you enter that Season 1? If you check each episode detail, do any of them have multi-version dropdown? In any case, renaming them would be the best course of action, as already suggested.

Thanks @GrimReaperAnd @Spaceboy. But this TV show will not have any follow up seasons. Should I still add `season 1` in the path?

Not mandatory but recommended, yes.

I can't move the original file, so I created a new folder with the recommended path, and symlink-ed the files to the new folder. Emby now recognized all the new episodes. Thanks!
