Same problem here now. Started with emby yesterady, installed on ubuntu. Provided ffmpeg files are .exe. Is there any solution for emby running on linux?

I have found that this is the correct way how to open the issue, unfortunately there is no option general without "/windows" so I come here as i run server on linux. Hopefully this will be no problem to get human reply, however what I am reporting here I consider it 100% general issue with emby support.

I want to point here the topic of audio video synchronization which emby evidently suffers on and the communication of support in this topic. Yes I am new in linux and I am ne in emby anyway, I want to make clear one think here. Is the intention of emby to be a tool for mediaservers nerds or on onther side also the tool for people with some litle above average computer skill they want media server?

I would expact with such a chronic issue (I can give you next time the list of pages google finds when I try to find help with this issue) with totaly basic functionality like sync of audio and video is (on windows, live tv, 2018, 2020, 2022. 2021, etc) , to find out some nice, real explanation what this is about, and not breaf answers in each of the started topics, responses only pointed exlusively to that user environment. This would be ok in case the issue appears once with one user and then 2 3th time. But not in this sittuation.  But as I started, If your goal is to nerd with mediaservers nerds and give them arguments and they do back  (like open the topic like this, change ffmpeg file with this one, did you try?, etc)....please just give me brief answer and I will go with any other provider, because noone has this chronic issue.

I believe that there is good reason why this issue exists and maybee  there is also some nice advise on this, like if you use this type of videoformat this happens because of this and we do not want to change this.........

Here are the examples, please serve your self

emby audio video sync problem - Google Search

Log files attached.

Emby running on hypervisor proxmox 2 CPU Intel about 3+ GHz, VM OS Ubuntu server.  Browser MS Edge.

CPU usage during playback jumps between 99% to 0.5%.

In the log files you can maybe see the transcoding session  however log files were downloaded cca 10 minutes after I finished converting. The issue appears even if I do not convert during the playback.

Please come back to me in case of any other info needed.

Fixed it!

Been doing research extensively, if you are incharge of transcoding process, you could fix this, even if content is bad, take a look at these: http://dranger.com/ffmpeg/tutorial05.html

In layman term, there are two keywords to care about:

  1. aresample=async=1000 (https://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-all.html#Examples-50)
  2. use_wallclock_as_timestamps

(I don't know about 2, use 1 already fixed my problem)

Hope this will help somebody.

Thanks for your post I will check browsers competencies as well, but whatever is happening with frames and their synchronization, in the origin of video playback this is not ok at all (screenshot).

For example kodi can run playback on orange pi. Attached also actual log files. Currently no problem with syncing. Nothing has been changed since last time issue appeared. Testing with

same video. I do not have more time now , maybe in the future.  Currently I am still trying emby because of really nice tidy interface, If i will not find what is the reason of this

behavior  Any hints very well come.

Cpu Intel I5 3,4GHz 2Core exclusively for emby on ubuntu.
