Wunterslaus 1 Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Hello, Transcoding was always a bit of a challenge (Windows machine, Zotac GT 1030 and I5 4690K) so i decided to go for a card of which i have read that it could do this task quite well. So i recently switched to the Intel Arc A380 for in and out house media consumption. However, Emby won't properly boot on the server when driver .4091 is installed (released 1 feb). It tries to load the transcoding tab en is then stuck with no media or settings to display (except for user settings). It was a bit of a hassle but i managed to install a .3959 driver and this seems to work fine. Have to put it to the test still but at least i can play media and alter settings. Anyone with a Arc gpu is experiencing this as well with this driver? Or has any other idea? Thanks in advance!

Happy2Play 9781 Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Yes there are several topics with driver issues and this card.
Luke 42080 Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 @softworkz is looking into this, thanks.
dharma261 1 Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 Well I am glad somebody is looking at it, this is the response i got back from intel tech support.... "Thanks for all your patience and collaboration during this case, we do understand that time is critical for your business that is why we have already finished our investigation process in our labs. So far based on the results we were not able to replicate the issue or get the same issues that you were facing so based on it the best option will be to get in contact with the tech support Emby media in order to try with their troubleshooting for this software since in our end all worked fine. Looking forward to hearing from you. In case we do not get a response we will contact you back in 3 business days." Well there you have it I guess Ben
Luke 42080 Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 HI, we found a solution and this will be resolved in Emby Server 4.8. If you need immediate relief we'll have a new 4.8 beta server with the fix sometime in the next few days. 1
RdyPlyr 2 Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 For me running Emby Server Version 4.8.0.21 beta, after I installed the A380 for handbrake encoding, Emby server would continue to crash. I had to uninstall the ARC software and drivers, using only the drivers that windows installs stopped my server crashing. 1
zhattyt 0 Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 (edited) I would like to ask when the new version will be released. I also encountered the same problem and hope to solve it as soon as possible. The existing old drivers really didn't get the level of encoding and decoding that ARC A380 deserved. Edited March 15, 2023 by zhattyt

HI, as soon as possible. We are working hard on it.
Wunterslaus 1 Posted March 15, 2023 Author Posted March 15, 2023 Thanks for all the efforts on this @Luke, much appreciated! 1
softworkz 5069 Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Hi Guys, can you please retry with the latest beta (.28) and the latest Intel drivers? ...or to be in sync - one version before: All tests with the .4146 drivers have been successful on our side. Download: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/726609/772016/intel-arc-iris-xe-graphics-whql-windows.html
RdyPlyr 2 Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Started running the latest build with the .4146 drivers linked with my A380. Emby seems to be stable running those drivers and the lag opening libraries from the previous build seems to be gone also. 1
softworkz 5069 Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Excellent! Thanks a lot for trying and reporting.
Tarlock 5 Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 Well, the latest Beta of Emby works, but as I got reply from Intel that they fixed the problem in general I can confirm that driver version 31.0.101.4314 and up should work even with Emby 4.7.11.0 w/o problems... 1

PixelWizard 7 Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 have any solution for this ? i have same issue, have portable version of Emby Beta ?
olythoreau 1 Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Just want to confirm that emby for Windows beta 4.8.0.60 fixed a consistent server failure a few seconds after boot when running my Intel A380 installed on 31.0.101.4972 drivers from Intel. Was running the most current official release of emby server for Windows before. Also, the web interface for this version looks amazing. Super polished. Thank you to all of the devs for your hard work. Really happy to be supporting this community. 1

Thanks for reporting back. And yes, the crash is a known issue. It wasn't fixed because ARC cards are generally not supported on server 4.7.x. since it requires a newer ffmpeg version, which in turn is a change that requires weeks or months of testing and cannot be done in a service release. I'm glad to here that you got is working now!
