thunderclap 52 Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 I have a friend who up until recently didn't have any issues streaming from my Emby server. Lately he's been having playback issues such as stuttering, stopping with general Playback Error, reversing crashes the playback, and trying to resume always starts at the beginning. I've had him make sure he's done a software update on his tv, restarted his router and modem, etc., and even had him delete the Emby app and reinstall but no luck. I've attached the ffmpeg file from one of his attempts to help. Any ideas? Thanks. ffmpeg-directstream-7216fdb6-a070-4a79-b700-9ecc0a0178fe_1.txt
Happy2Play 9783 Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Is this issue only with items subtitles (mov_text)?

Happy2Play 9783 Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 If they lower the playback quality to force transcoding or during playback bring up the OSD and click the gear and select Playback Correction (depending on current playback method changes to direct stream or transcode, if clicking once changes to direct stream clicking twice changes to transcode) does it correct the issue?

I'm wondering if there two issues happening. A logout/login of the Emby app fixed some of the playback issues but not the one with the movie that had a MOV_TXT subtitle file. That still caused a problem. Another friend tried a movie that had an ASS subtitle file and the movie wouldn't even play until the subtitle was disabled. I've converted both subtitles to SRT and am now waiting for verification it works on their systems.

Luke 42083 Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 The mere presence of it should not have caused a problem. It sounds like in server transcoding settings you unchecked the box at the bottom to not allow subtitle extraction on the fly? If so, why did you do that? Try re-checking it.

It was indeed unchecked and I'm not sure why. Either I did it for a reason now forgotten to me or I did it by mistake. I've re-enabled it. 1
