I see the same issue on SeasonID but assume @Lukeis no longer populating it as no NEW season of any series shows season providerid for me.  (actually seems sporadic as some do and some don't).

But can say I don't see this issue on either stable or beta.

4.7.11.0 - Only have user Display option enabled and shows the Upcoming info and tomorrow the missing virtual will disappear.  From Upcoming but same appears in Show/Season level.

Really can't see this being a platfom issue though.  But really have no idea if this is only affecting one show beside maybe LOCKED metadata.

There is no locked meta data.

I did blow away the tvdb cache and did a library scan so we shall see

If it is only this Show the only thing I can think of would be remove the show, do a full scan to remove it from the database and readd.  But if happening on two different servers I can't really see them both having the same issue.

Understood.  The backup server does a rsync of the library files , but none of the Emby data, so NFO's images and MKVs and BIFs are synced (anything in the library's directory)

I tend to agree with your assessment.

So to test out your theory, remove the show from the library (inside emby), obviously NOT deleting the data files.

Then Ill likely remove all NFOs in the directory on the server, as well as any image files that are downloaded.

Then do a full library scan?

TIA

Yes when you remove some outside of Emby you have to do a full library scan to clean up everything in Emby.  As there is no Remove only option in Emby only Delete.

Understood.  Just wanted to make sure I was trying the right thing.

Doing it now.

If you have a test server then I would remove the show, scan, and only add a Show and Season 0 folder and Emby should populate everything as missing.

I was asked to confirm show missing episodes was turned on in both user display area and the library

Just an update.  I moved the whole directory out of the way, refreshed the directory.  Same results.

Something to try (extreme, but you possibly have some corrupt db entries?)

remove the season, scan, set db vacuum, shutdown emby.  start emby, scan, shutdown emby.  startup - now add the new season - and fingers crossed !

Do all your series have providerids in there name?

South Park (1997) [tmdbid=2190]

Wild guess something with the TMDBid instead of say TVDBid?

Utilizing a different Show name would clear up any db conflict or possible creating a TEST library and move that Series.

Yes.  Never been an issue before. It showed the missing episodes for all the other shows with no issues.

I use a media manager system (that I wrote) that processes raw (ripped/downloaded etc) and renames them to the proper emby naming, and folder structure.

I currently use themoviedb for all, since all data I need is in themoviedb, but not all data is in thetvdb  I could 100% (though it would be a pain :() to use thetvdb for tv and themoviedb for movies.

Everyone except for S26E02 which hasnt premiered yet (317 episodes or so)

I have about 7900 episodes in total.

So good news/bad news..

Setup a test server on my PC (not the same OS of course).  Made sure both my display settings and the library settings had "show missing episodes" turned on.

Added the South Park Directory (Same name, tmdbid based) and the season 26 folder (same exact name), no MKV files, just folder names

And it worked perfectly :(

Im not sure if that says its a OS Specific issue? or if my DB is corrupt? Or if something else is different.

Whats the best way to debug this?  Is it possible to setup to copies of emby server (different ports/locations)?

Is there a way to use an actual debugger connected to a remote application?

Im a 30+ year professional software developer, I can help figure this out

I did notice a a setting that is different in the library setup, "Save metadata and images as hidden files" Im assuming thats a windows only option? Though Im not sure why..

I know its an attribute on windows and not linux, but on linux just start it with a period, and have the system look for "xxx.nfo" or ".xxx.nfo"

Ok, so some further testing.

I copied the complete set of data from my server to my test machine.

I made two copies, one "raw", only the MKV files.  One containing all the other generated files.

I then uninstalled emby with the "delete everything" switch.

I then installed it, created a new library, made sure all the settings were correct.

When I added with the data.

The missing show is NOT shown.

Im going to now reinstall, and use the raw version

So following.  I tried another experiemtn.

On the server, I removed the South Park directory.

Then I created the directory and the season 26 directory.

No media files, just the directory.

It created the upcoming episode

I dont know what will happen with episode 3, but I think at this point, Im going to try and get some work done :)

In order to get missing episodes, every single season must be tagged with the season number in the emby metadata editor, and every single episode must be tagged with the episode number and season number in the metadata editor. You probably have at least one episode or season that is missing this information.

Why is this required, because users complain that they get missing episode entries for episodes they already have, which might be true, but there's no way for the server to know this without being able to match up the numbers. It's an escape I added a couple years ago to avoid having to troubleshoot that.

Is this stored in the nfo files? Or do I have to do it by hand?

In the season 26 NFO (havent checked others) its missing both the tvdbid and the uniqueid type="tvdb"
