Q-Droid 989 Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 You might have to try force loading the module on boot and experimenting with kernel mode setting. The output from the last lsmod is what you want to see with i915 loaded for drm but lspci should also list the Intel VGA controller. Same for dmesg, it should include i915 with drm in the output. I don't know specifically which kernel boot options you need and I'll post if I come across something.
Q-Droid 989 Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Are you booting with a display attached and have you tried without? Run headless then ssh in to see if there's a difference.
danergo 37 Posted February 11, 2023 Author Posted February 11, 2023 VGA is onboard, this is an HP server and there is a monitor attached, yes. It's far away, I can't remove the display currently (and I can't at all remove the onboard VGA connector). As it's having iLO, I guess this is somewhat impossible without a true, dedicated GPU.
Solution Q-Droid 989 Posted February 11, 2023 Solution Posted February 11, 2023 So I think you nailed it. It looks to be a restriction by the server and as such it does not make the iGPU available and graphics are restricted to the onboard Matrox controller. This seems to confirm it: https://community.hpe.com/t5/proliant-servers-netservers/microserver-gen10-plus-and-intel-quick-sync/td-p/7084407
danergo 37 Posted May 14, 2023 Author Posted May 14, 2023 Folks, I just got back here for a short quick update, might help someone else with same HW. I put a Quadro P400 card (fits perfectly) into the server, and OMG! It really makes a difference! No words for it. Multi100 MBps 4K HEVC hugeFPS videos downconverting to few10MBps FHD consumable on portable devices and remote locations. All done in realtime, without lagging, pretty sweet. I just love it Thank you Emby Team! 2
