HDR luminance

I've seen a few topics about this but links in there are dead and information there is not clear to follow.

Currently, HDR is watchable in Theater, just a little dark. Boosting HDR balance in Windows also affects Windows itself so I don't want that, I just want to boost Emby video, like peak nits or play with other things.

Do I need to update mpv or does Theater come with the latest? If I need to update it, how do I do it?

I also need to know about the mpv.conf. Last time I tried creating a file and copying text into it, video wouldn't play.

Have you tried installing the Diagnostics plugin and changing the tone mapping algorithm?
