Movie not showing with Dolby Vision

Any reason why a movie will not show up as having Dolby Vision?  Here is what MediaInfo shows for the file:

Format : HEVC
Format/Info : High Efficiency Video Coding
Format profile : Main 10@L5.1@High
HDR format : Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU, Blu-ray compatible / SMPTE ST 2094 App 4, Version 1, HDR10+ Profile B compatible
Codec ID : V_MPEGH/ISO/HEVC

But in Emby it just shows "4K HVEC HDR10"

Emby currently does not have the info but believe it will in 4.8.

That should be asking in the plugin topic as Officially Emby will not have anything until 4.8.

Pop over to the plugin thread and list your concerns there. Also read the wiki link in the first post to ensure you are doing everything correctly

Yes it does. You'll need to refresh metadata on existing content.

If you only want to know it may be 'some type' of DV, then yes - but if you want to know what profile it is - whether it has a HDR10 or HDR10+ compatibility track and details of all the HD Audio tracks object based information such as Atmos etc - then I would stick with the Plugin ... ;)

edit - I just raised a FR to get the info they do have added - emby still doesn't have the Audio details as this is ffmpeg issue, so even if DV details are added, the MediaInfo plugin is still providing a lot of extra functionality and mediainfo detail.

Does it support dual layer dolby vision files? or will it ignore the 2nd dv stream and only read the hdr10 stream?

From my experience, no software based player will read dual layer DV titles - you need to merge the tracks using makemkv or dovitools - into a single layer DV profile 7, or profile 8 track - which will then include both the HDR10 (base layer) and DV (Enhancement layer).

the example given in your first post - already is a single layer 'merged' track FYI.

edit - ah that's not you - that's another OP .. ☺️

my files are mp4 so makemkv doesn't support it as a source file, I had been looking around but struggling with all the cmd line based tools, ill keep looking though, thank you.

The mp4' container may well be DV but that container does not support HD Audio. It really depends what MediaInfo (the Application) says - it it says the same as above (BL+EL) - then it 'should' play as DV... ;)
