sparris 1 Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Hi to all, my server is running on a Synology 214+ NAS and the app is running on a Shield. On certain films I have a pause for a few seconds every few minutes. What information can I provide in order for you to have a look? Thanks in advance!
GrimReaper 4739 Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Hey up, Let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
sparris 1 Posted February 3, 2023 Author Posted February 3, 2023 Hi, here is the log file. THANKS embyserver (1).txt
sparris 1 Posted February 3, 2023 Author Posted February 3, 2023 Just tried the latest beta emby server and reinstalled the app on gshield, but still have the same problem … anybody else?

sparris 1 Posted February 4, 2023 Author Posted February 4, 2023 Hi, I am playing a MKV file at 11:45 in the log file. the stream starts normally and then every few seconds it pauses for 2-3 seconds and then continues ... seems like it is buffering? I tried the option "Use external Player" and selected VLC ...same isssue. If a open VLC on the same device separatly and connect via UPNP ... streaming the MKV file is no problem. Is there maybe a server setting wrong?
ebr 16169 Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 What is the bitrate of the item? Have you tried lowering the quality setting in the app?
sparris 1 Posted February 4, 2023 Author Posted February 4, 2023 In the server it shows 70 mbps when streaming
ebr 16169 Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 That is a very high bitrate. The network may just be struggling with that. Wireless? Have you tried lowering the quality setting in the app?
sparris 1 Posted February 4, 2023 Author Posted February 4, 2023 The network is all wired … when lowering the quality below 100 mbps I only see the loading icon when starting the film, then returns to start screen as mentioned when I play directly via vlc there is no problem, but if I use vlc as external player in emby there is same problem.

Actually, you should get a message about too many errors there too and that is because you have disabled the ability of the server to transcode: EnableVideoPlaybackTranscoding: False EnableAudioPlaybackTranscoding: False
sparris 1 Posted February 5, 2023 Author Posted February 5, 2023 Hi, all 4 options are selected as you posted above. I thought transcoding by the server is only supported with premiere?!

sparris 1 Posted February 6, 2023 Author Posted February 6, 2023 Ok, maybe I activated them later again when trying around, but the result is still the same
ebr 16169 Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 If you set the client quality at 20Mb what happens? Can we please see logs from that?
sparris 1 Posted February 6, 2023 Author Posted February 6, 2023 Hi, here is the log file … starts at 19:17 … thanks Spoiler embyserver 2.txt
sparris 1 Posted February 6, 2023 Author Posted February 6, 2023 Sorry, forgot … quality was set to 21 mbps … after losing for a while it returned to the menu.
ebr 16169 Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 ffmpeg is not working properly on your server. Was there also an ffmpeg log?
sparris 1 Posted February 6, 2023 Author Posted February 6, 2023 HI, yes ... several files ffmpeg-transcode-82d5e63f-952a-4cce-97f8-3533cec31beb_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-0babd529-4ffa-46e7-b2a6-83d70d0e627e_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-9e8f46ab-65a6-402c-a607-408682d84b89_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-3324acf5-fa2c-4b23-9941-537b53e06d1a_1.txt
ebr 16169 Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Looks like ffmpeg is crashing. You are running the beta server which could be a factor...
sparris 1 Posted February 7, 2023 Author Posted February 7, 2023 This issue existed before I updated, I then updated hoping it would improve
Luke 42077 Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 @sparris Hi. Can you try sideloading our standard android app on the same device and see how that compares? https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Thanks.
sparris 1 Posted February 7, 2023 Author Posted February 7, 2023 Hi, Same result … but no ffmpeg protocol only this one embyserver.txt
