Hi, first off allow me to introduce myself, my name is Matt and as stated I am new to this program and to these forums, normally I dont post these topics, i always try to figure this stuff out on my own, but now.. my head hurts lol, for the last 5 years I have been using playstation media server, last night xbox one got the update to enable dlna playback finally, however xbox one refuses to read playstation media server, so I tried out plex, I have about 4 tb in movies and tv shows, plex recognized my folder structure system for movies very well but it didnt for tv shows, for tv shows my folder filing system is for example COMEDY-FRESH PRINCE-SEASON 1-EPISODE 1 but when I go to that particular file to go play it, plex instead plays COMEDY-FAMILY MATTERS-SEASON 1-EPISODE 1, when I click on info about the file from the plex browser it shows it has 30 titles underneath that which plex believes is a tv show called comedy lol, so I reloaded the tv show library as movies, all was going well but... most of my tv shows are showing the folders but no files while some shiows were showing upo but was missing some files, so I decided to not use PLEX and try out Media Browser, so far so good however... I am not seeing any season folders, some shows like criminal minds I see season folders but other shows like fresh prince, there is no season folders, its all 6 seasons jumbled together in a single folder and its like that with most of my shows, is there anyway, any possible way I can simply get media browser to mirror my own file structure here like ps3 media server always did for me?

In order for us to provide the rich data and functionality we do, we have to set some standards on how we can recognize content.  We do our best to recognize all supported formats that are in wide use out there but yours is not one of those.

Please see: Media Files & Folders Structure

ok I understand that but all i care about is keeping my file structure, I dont want to go about renaming thousands and thousands of different files so media browser can collect the proper data to identify the image and some info, I dont care about any of that, thats why I loved ps3 media server, it was basic and simple with no extra features, is there anyway for me to function the way I want it to function by sacrificing the metadata feature or whatever it is?

Try making the media folder type "Home Videos".

hmm that might actually be working.. thanks for the tip, just letting it reload fully before messing around with it but from what i can tell, its on the right path..
