racheng 0 Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 I've been having this issue for the past few days. On startup on Fire TV/Shield, Emby will continuously load with the blue circle spinning. There is no issue on my other devices (Roku, Android phone, web interface). The Emby Server is running on my Synology with a static IP. Nothing has changed. Clearing data of the Emby app allows the Emby app to load and find the server, but this would have to be done each time the app is loaded. I've had this issue in the past and followed a suggestion to set the local IP address in the Network settings tab. It resolved the issue then but it seems to have come back. I have double checked the local IP address and it is correct. Any ideas? Thanks!
ebr 16182 Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 Hi. Is this on your local network? If you enter the IP address manually, does it connect? What is your 'Login behavior' set to in the app startup settings?
racheng 0 Posted January 27, 2023 Author Posted January 27, 2023 Hi. Yes, this is on my local network. The Login Behavior was set to the last user. I entered the IP address of the server manually and was able to connect. I was able to close out the app and reconnect without issue. Not sure why it couldn't automatically find the server but manually entering the IP address seems to have resolved the issue. Thanks!
Mnejing 23 Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 This happens to me on Google TV using the most recent stable release (no beta). One of two things happen. First if I'm playing a playlist and turn my TV off, Emby will hang when I turn it back on. I found backing OUT of the playlist (at least back to the main playlist menu) prevents this from happening. The other is sometimes it outright spins for ages when I start it first. Not sure the cause, but I just force close and re-open it and it works first time. It's mildly annoying, but they're quick fixes. I don't have logs, and I'll be totally honest and say that it's likely something on the TV side, and I just don't want to get the logs over adb.

Not fully off, but standby (so it's still booted in to Google TV, a full power cycle of the TV does not present the issue). I don't play audio-only files on the TV, as I prefer to listen to music on my phone or PC (but still with Emby). Not sure if it happens with audio-only. The TV itself is a Google TV device. It's a TCL Smart TV I got on Black Friday. Like I said, personally it's a very trivial issue, but I'm sure others would have issue. Edit: I saw similar here: I'll confirm it's on Wifi right now. I can't test a wired connection as I'm literally in the middle of moving and honestly don't have time to test it on a wired connection right now. I know I'm not providing enough hard data to help with this right now, I'm just not personally in a place to get that together until next week. Edited January 28, 2023 by Mnejing
Luke 42078 Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Hi. Can you try sideloading our standard android app on the same device and see how that compares? https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Thanks.

Sideload works but doesn't have my purchase so I can't play back media. Issue only occurs on my shield, on my Android phone or web it works fine.
