Lazarus_Long 80 Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 So I'm debating between grouping when I have multiple versions of a movie (such as 4K and 1080p) and leaving them ungrouped. I thought grouping them might be nice but then I see that the Version selection ends up looking like this. Yeah I know I should probably rename my movies but that's more maintenance that I really don't want to worry about lol. Ideally it would be better if the drop-down would just maybe show the video/audio differences in the versions instead of basing it on filename? I do know that if you select a different version the video/audio to the right of the drop-down updates. Just wish it was a bit nicer looking...

Any recommendations on a good tool to help rename files/folders to get into a better Emby format? I know in the past I've used Sonarr which can do that but seems a bit overkill for just file renaming...

What do you mean as almost everything comes from Series level. But specifics, library providers, and server logs are need. But unrelated to this topic.

The top folder name is "American Horror Story", but then within that folder many episodes are in individual folders (for each episode). And then the file names are randomized (which is what Emby is showing for the episode name). Plex is just a bit more forgiving with how it finds episode names apparently. (Just a thought - if you really want to make it easier for users to move from Plex to Emby, might want to look at stuff like this...I imagine they are identifying the episode by the folder name, as long as there is only a single file in the folder.

True as Emby will use filename for episode identification of Season/Episode. Personally have never seen episodes named this way. @Luke But currently episodes naming requires Season/Episode or by date. Episode naming conventions Edited January 23, 2023 by Happy2Play added info

Actually, looks like you may be in luck with the next server release 4.8.x.x currently in beta. @cayarslooks like the KB may need an update for episode folders with episode obfuscated filenames starting in 4.8. Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Yes you can actually run both on the same machine, you just have to make sure they are on different ports or run one at a time.

I thought Dolby Vision was going to be identifiable in this version of the server, but apparently not yet? They play for me but UI doesn't show them as a video type yet.

I believe the next beta or sometime before 4.8 is released. 2
