Suggestion on live tv through a 918+

Really starting from scratch here.  I honestly dont know anything about streaming "live" tv (not from emby, not from anything..)

I used to have a hauppauge card on my desktop a 2 decades or so ago...  But have no idea where to even start here.

First some questions.  Is it still via a device? Or is it simply redirecting a stream?

How does it work with emby?  Where does the guide come from? Is it based on a playlist supplied by the vendor?

Is there a decent FAQ on this somewhere?  That gets technical enough to understand the details?

TIA

Hi, if you're running the server on Synology then I would suggest an hd home run network tuner. Have you looked at those?

It looks like this is the model for "cable tv" (xfinity) https://shop.silicondust.com/shop/product-category/atsc/?scrollto=410844

Then once I got this up and running, I tie this to my emby, using the appropriate plugin.

Then I can use emby as the DVR and replace my cable tv boxes with emby clients?

edit: does EMBY do the DVR'ing or does the hd homerun network tuner?

I didn't at the time.  But I figured that out.

Question, is it possible to get the guide and image from the hdhomerun itself?
