Arch Linux Out of Memory During Library Scan

Recommended Posts

I recently migrated my emby server from Ubuntu to Arch Linux. There were a couple of hiccups, but mostly smooth - thank you for a wonderful product!!

Now, however, every time I run a library scan, emby gets killed by the "OOM killer" for taking too much memory. I've tried checking around the forums, but nothing I've found has helped.

I'm including screenshots of "systemctl status emby-server" so you can see the progression from AfterRestart (just restarted the server), through RunningScans, then showing AfterCrash. I'm also including the log - i turned on debugging.

It looks to me like the log stops at 11:52:19, but the AfterCrash screenshot makes it look like something kept going on for a couple of minutes before the crash.

I have my media files on a nas using a share mounted on the Arch box to /nas1.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, the 4.7 release does have an issue where certain photo files can cause this. Workaround for now would be to remove your photo library from the server. It is resolved in the upcoming 4.8 release. Thanks.

Thanks for the update. Any idea when 4.8 will be out?

Just as a FYI - doing a scan on my Movies library, the memory consumption went from about 250MB to a little over 10GB and didn't go back down.

I don't have an ETA but we are working hard on it.
