Video Stops Audio Continues Chrome unresponsive.

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

After maybe 10 -15 minutes of playback on a local chrome browser, the media video stops, the audio continues for a short time, then audio stops as well.
Chrome browser is no longer responsive on ANY of my open windows (usually 3 open windows).
I have to force stop the program, then re launch it to resume watching.
I reinstalled google chrome and also tried it on Brave browser. Same results.
I adjusted some settings under the transcoding tab, but have had no improvement.
Any Ideas?

Thanks, Mat

Hi, can you try with a different video file?

This happens with different files.
It doesn't seem to matter what I'm streaming.
I will pay attention to the TYPE of files, and
I will try some different file TYPES too.
The timing is also inconsistent. Sometimes it plays for 10 or 15 mins. Sometimes for upwards of 30.

Here's The latest error log and associated file's media info.

I have found that the common file type to cause this issue is MKV.
If I play other file types, I have no issue.
I have tried to adjust some more settings within the transcoding options, but still get the freezing.
I have adjusted about every transcoding option available.
I am running two transcoding devices. Could there be an issue with the work load attempting to switch devices while streaming?
Here is another log.

Unrelated but this log shows a Locked database.

Busy: database is locked - PRAGMA journal_mode

If shutting down Emby and the -shm and -wal files still remain you will need to delete them.

C:\Users\Command Center\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\data

The files do not exist.

Suggest shutting down properly closed the database then.

Looking a previous log I would suggest disabling PortMapper via Emby Networks page or uninstalling the plugin as it is spamming the server log.  Probably not related to your overvall issue though.

Can you post server and ffmpeg log for another example.

Is this only with avi mpeg4 media?

Does the same happen if you disable Hardware Acceleration?

Does this only happen in Chrome?

It only seems to happen with MKV files.
I haven't tried disabling hardware accel.
This also happens on Brave browser.

I am not seeing an ffmpeg for the files in question.
Of course, the MKV files have been playing fine now for an hour. Go figure.

That is usually how it works when you try to troubleshoot.

Seems odd there is no ffmpeg with mkv in Chrome though as it should be at least remuxing.

Seems odd you don't have a hardware decoder also.

>>>>>>  Selected Codecs
Decoder Automatic software decoder

But if it happens again please post the server and ffmpeg log if present.

I am using Brave browser currently. It is still chromium based, but is there a difference with remuxing?
I turned on advanced settings for hardware decoding.
Here is my settings for Decoding:

@matbeebe85may have just been the avi mpeg4 file in the previous ffmpeg log.

As for remuxing it is just a container swap as most browsers will not support mkv.

Happened again. Issue occurred at 12:14pm.
I only get a log for the server.

@Luke I haven't been getting any ffmpeg logs for the MKV files.
