Why can not adjust play speed via android TV app?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

only in android TV app

1. For the same movie, my Sony TV cannot adjust the playback speed, but I can adjust the playback speed on the Android phone with the Android TV version app
2. Not all movies are not good, some can be and some are not
3. I have checked the audio settings, it seems that there is no problem

4.The app version is the latest and has been uninstalled and installed

yes,Since I had a problem with my TV sony xr65a90j that I couldn't adjust the playback speed, I tried running the Android TV app on my Android phone and found that adjusting the playback speed worked fine.

Now I find that all movies with 5.1 channels cannot adjust the playback speed, but other movies can

Hi.  If you are bitstreaming audio (like DD or DTS) then the speed cannot be adjusted.  If you always want to adjust speed, then select the Audio option "Mix down to stereo" in the playback settings.

Problem solved, thanks for reply
I thought of a suggestion, is it possible to automatically set the audio to Mix down to stereo when adjusting the playback speed? Then resume bitstreaming audio when normal speed
Because the playback speed button is hidden, it really confuses me to think it's a bug

I agree, this is strange behavior that you can only find out about in the forums. I thought playback speed was removed at first...

Hi.  Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares?

Thanks.

Just checked. Seems to work ok on the standard android app with 5.1 direct play, just not on Emby for Android TV.

Hi, great! Are you happy continuing to use this?

Ah! My mistake, I didn't realize you were talking about installing the standard android app on the TV. I just tried it, the playback speed option is available, but it does nothing.

Sidenote: Is the standard android app planned to replace Emby for Android TV?

This is for the exact same reason as above.  The TV app just doesn't give you the option when it knows it won't work.

HI, yes it is. Are you happy continuing to use this?

I'm happy to hear about this, since I'm sure maintaining one source would be a lot easier

But this should definitely be treated as a bug. Currently if it's anything but stereo audio, you can select a different playback speed, but absolutely nothing will happen.

In my opinion, it should downstream to stereo and proceed with the new playback speed (if it's not technically possible in Android TV), but I'm sure some would disagree.

Hmm...  The android app does not work on my android tv (sony 65" bravia. 65KD8505 i think?).  It installs fine, but when i start the app it just shows a gray screen and then crashes/quits.

The AndroidTV app works great on the TV. Just the android app does not

(apologies for being off-topic with regards to this thread)

It says it has version 7 i think??  i added a screenshot of the about screen 🙂 It has the latest update from Sony (after this update they stopped making updates)

I tried again. It still behaves the same (after a few reboots of the TV).
The AndroidTV app however works perfectly

Thanks for your time!  I appreciate it

Sorry, this is my reply using translation software:
I always thought it was because my SONY TV series was upgraded to Android 10.
The emby TV version's double-speed playback fails. Can the program be set to automatically switch to audio conversion when playing DD or DTS audio if double-speed playback is required.

At the same time, can you put the double-speed playback button on the first-level menu, next to the playback control?

Another reason is why I don’t want to use the standard version of the Android APP. When the standard version is selected using remote control, there is no beeping feedback sound, which is inconvenient to use.

Hi, the first level is a little crowded already, no?
