CelsoCruz 1 Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Hi, I created a server in my house with Emby. I set up M DDNS and it's working. The problem is that if I access through the Web my server (outside my home) when I want to mirror to a TV it shows the TV options of my home, where the server is installed. If I trigger the play, the video is shown on the TV of my home, where the server is installed... Can you fix that? Is there any way to show the video on tv where I am?
Luke 42078 Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Hi, what TV do you have at your location? Do you have a Chromecast?

No. Its not avaiable to this model and I cant do install. I am accessing my server through my Notebook and would like to mirror the screen to the TV. But I'm not in my house, where the server is. I'm accessing the internet at my dad's house. Edited January 11, 2023 by CelsoCruz
SamES 1057 Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 I don't think that works remotely. Are you accessing via a VPN, or just though port mapping on the router using the servers external address?

I expected the browser to search for the tvs available on the local network where I was watching (should be). But it is looking for the TVs of the network where the server is installed.

Local network means from the perspective of the server, not the client. Generally, casting only works to devices on the local network @Luke, or someone else can correct me if this is not actually correct Edited January 11, 2023 by SamES
Luke 42078 Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 This is correct. We do plan to move this out of the server and into the individual apps in future updates, so that they can detect devices no matter what network you're on. But even once that happens, you'd have to do it using our windows, android or iOS app. The web browser can't detect your TV.

Perhaps include a setting to block this mirroring when using the browser outside the local network. 1
