Cannot connect new devices

Been having a real big problem with connecting nee devices and accessing my emby server outside of my typical drvices/network.

Up until recently when connecting new devices i have had three basic options, connect with the 5 digit link code given by the device, using the manual address, or logging in with my emby connect username and password and switching users.

Lately nothing will work pertaining connecting on new devices, it essentially sends me in a loop log in and select server and then when trying to access the server it sends me right back to the beginning again and it has been happening on multiple different Devices. Aside from that even if im "connected" to the server whenever i try to change the user (users have no passwords set) i continuously get an error stating username/password are incorrect and to try again and ive gone in and reset users and added passwords and removed them and nothing will work.

Im at my wits end trying to figure this out i had seen a related post talking about sqlite errors and there was a link to try to fix it but it instructs you to shut down emby and delete library-??? Files, but when i shut down emby those files auto delete/ disappear and when emby is running those files cant be removed.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated in trying to get thus issue fixed

Hi.  Are you saying your existing devices are still connecting and working fine?

Did you, perhaps, restrict device access for any of your users?

Yes existing devices will connect just fine, there is only one user that has had device restrictions in place, and that was to prevent them from accessing the server, but it was just one singular user that had a total restriction, and then all other users had just one specific device restriction ( the device the original user that was restricted was using to access)

All other users/permissions were unchanged. But now trying to log in with any user prompts me with invalid username and password error. I can however sign in with my emby connect information and that lets me in but if i try to change users, i get the same error of invalid user / password, and thats all users (16 total) besides the main one with the connect account attached

I have the main landing user with library restrictions only to prevent user dilution, ie two users on same profile that messes with content previously or currently being watched,  to force all users to login to their own specific profiles. It makes it simpler for all involved. However this has been set far longer than the connection issues have been happening

Sorry, I didn't really understand that.  Exactly what restrictions and what is "the main landing user"?

Can you try removing some of your restrictions and see if that makes a difference?

The main landing user, like the main profile, whenever a device or user first connects it loads to that profile, with no library access at all meaning you cant access any content but can still access the server. To make people switch to their own profiles instead of all users using a shared profile

I did go through all profiles and remove all restrictions and it seems as though (on this one device at least) that it is resolved.(for now) i will have to do further testing and report back on wether it is fully resolved completely

Sorry, I still don't follow because Emby doesn't have a "main landing user" or a default profile when a device first connects.  You have to choose a user.

In my experience whenever ive had any users initially connect they always load into the profile with emby connect associated with it, that profile is the the one i associate as the main profile, i generally connect users with a pin as its the easiest to explain for the user. When that doesnt work or a pin isnt an option i have them use the direct remote access address. In either case they always load in to that profile, i then direct them to go to settings and sign out/switch user depending on the device/ app version and proceed to sign in to their own profile that i have set up for them.

Yes, if you use Emby Connect that is what is supposed to happen.  That Connect account is tied to a specific user on your server.

Why not just point them to the proper user in the first place?   Or have them create Connect accounts and properly associate those with their users on your server and eliminate that last step?

It doesnt give an option to choose a user. It loads them in to the emby connect profile

That's because you are telling them to login as that user.  Emby Connect ties one Connect user to one local user on your server.  Either give them the address of your server and their specific user/pw to use, or have them create Connect accounts and then associate those emails with the proper local user on  your server.
