Methodman104 10 Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 I was away for a month and my internet went out during that time, when I returned I had to unplug and plug in my router again to get it going, but it seemed to have changed my WAN IP address, now my users cant access emby anymore. The port is still the same 8096. Is there any way to fix this? Or do I have to tell all my users to manually enter the new IP address on their app from their tv's again? I would rather make it easier for them since they are not tech savvy.

If they have an Emby connect account will it connect them to my media server no matter what my IP address is or changes to? I did not know you could use Emby Connect with the actual Emby Server.

Yep. You can consider Emby Connect sorta DDNS, as it's primary benefit is for users not to have to know server address. Methodman104 10 Posted January 20, 2023 Author Posted January 20, 2023 Do I add the Emby Connect username and password I created for them? Or do they log into the Emby Server first with the username/password they signed up for with Emby Connect then find my server?

You need to link local user with existing Connect account: For example for User: Dad you would input email address of his Connect account: momanddad@gmail.com. He'll get a confirmation email to accept. Once you link his account, he can login to your server either with his local credentials (having to know server address) or with his Connect credentials (not needing to know server address).

Assuming a Connect account has been created you add the email address to the existing user via the image in the KB. Then the user would use their Connect email and password to log in via the device. As Direct and Connect are different connection methods. Have you verified your ports are still open? Test Your External Address
