Mcbrews 0 Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 I'm having good success streaming H264 .mkv movies in 1080p or less with my Synology DS220+ with Emby. What i've noticed is the movies that i have on my server in the VC1 format buffer and generally can't stream well even if i bump the rate down to 1080p 10mbps. I've have been able to convert the VC1 movies to H264 with no issues (Bootstrap) but every single time i am getting forced subtitles with no option to turn them off. When the movie is playing the subtitle menu says its off but they're still playing. I also have them turned off in Emby. Can anyone help me out? I've tried this with two different movies and the same problem exists.

If emby says they are off but they are still displayed then I'm making the assumption they have been 'burnt in' to the video stream - ie you cannot remove them unless you re-encode the video again but make sure any 'burn in' subtitle settings are turned off in your encoding software (nothing to do with emby) ... Double check the file by playing it directly in VLC etc (ensuring subs are off) - if they still show - then this is your problem 100%. Edited January 5, 2023 by rbjtech 1
Luke 42080 Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 @Mcbrews yes this is probably the reason. We can confirm if you can provide a specific example: How to Report a Problem Thanks.
