Wobzy 0 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Hey guys, Casting from my mobile to Chromecast TV. Having an issue with one particular series of episodes. The files are 1080p h264 .mkv, same as alot of my media. However when I play any of these particular episodes, the loading circle doesn't go away, despite the video playing perfectly and without delay. When I press stop, the loading circle is still there. I play any other media, the loading circle still persists. I let Emby idle for five minutes just rotating backdrops and the circle is still here spinning. I have to stop casting to get rid of it, and when I start casting again, other media plays without issue, but attempting to play the series in question again replicates the issue. I have restarted Emby server, the whole computer, Emby app, and the Chromecast. Help is appreciated.
Luke 42080 Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks! Hey mate, I ended up just replacing the files in that instance. But it's now happening again in a more specific circumstance. I just had an issue with subtitles not displaying correctly. So I turned off on the fly extraction in transcoding settings. This fixed the subtitle playback issue, but it has left me with the spinning circle. Also, I had difficulty scrubbing and stopping playback prior to turning off subtitle extraction. Initially in the stream info in playback it said recovered from playback error, it's no longer present as you can see in the screen, but I've attached the logs. Time was around 19:25, I think. Time of playback in attached video is 19:30 20230106_193027.mp4 ffmpeg-transcode-18b9535b-41bd-4e79-a515-b36f40bfa1e0_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-ac951465-c871-4efa-a911-0c9156da7f30_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-a7f7c947-da5a-461a-a72e-aa179879f573_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-2527266e-8d11-47e6-bf16-e090210bccab_1.txt embyserver.txt
skooogis 7 Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Have the same problem with a specific series.. Never had this before. 2
ibigibi 0 Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 I also have this issue. But it is very recent (in the last week) and started with just certain file types. Restarting the app and the server does nothing. Please advise.
BenKa 2 Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 (edited) The same here! It started tonight, only on the chromecast, not on other devices. It's even spinning whem nothing is playing. Edited February 9, 2023 by BenKa addded a line 2
BenKa 2 Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Youtube from my laptop is working perfect, its only emby that's showing spinnig circles on chromecast
dalesd 6 Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 I have this same problem with Emby server running on Ubuntu, casting to a Chromecast Ultra vía Android. Very annoying
bellstrom 0 Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Same problem here too. I just updated my emby version to 4.7.11.0 and it started. I disabled on the fly subtitle extraction and server debug logs, but still have the non-stop spinning circle on chromecast. The video and audio (behind the circle) are clean and smooth. No jitter.
mindhive 2 Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Also having this issue casting to a Chromecast TV from Android app. Started just tonight.
imelturface 0 Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 I’m seeing this on my chromecasts and google nest hub when casting from both iOs and Android. Just started today
elemeno 1 Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Also having this same issue as of today. Newest version on Ubuntu 22.04.1 with emby server at latest x64 release. Tried casting from 2 separate android devices to 2 separate Chromecast devices same behavior. Did service reboot and total server reboot. Still no luck. All content plays flawlessly, but the buffering circle is stuck spinning indefinitely. It's like the callback along the lines of "buffering complete" is failing. Who knows. Thanks for looking into this.
tcytra 0 Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 This is obviously a confirmed issue, it is happening to me as well Chromecasting with Emby app on Android device. The spinner never goes away for all video files. Even when I stop playing, the spinner remains. This is happening for the first time today and persists after restarting everything.
Luke 42080 Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 Hi, we'll take a look at it. Thanks for reporting.
RogueBloodrage 1 Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 I registered to say this happened to me as well. Something yesterday (last 2 days) has changed. It doesn't look like its the Emby software (I manually update). I can confirm, its doing this on all my media, not specific types (I haven't tried everything, but I've picked a bunch of stuff and its all the same, mind you, the vast majority of my stuff is mkv 1080p, h264 / x265). I can confirm that it is occurring on 2 different Chromecast Pros in two different rooms. It would appear that google changed something with CC / updated firmware??
MrPancake 10 Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 I was having the same issue yesterday. Tested just now and the blue circle is gone. Maybe Google fixed something on their side?
