KennyG944 1 Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 I just upgraded my Mint 20.3 up to Mint 21 Vanessa. First, I started off with a backup. Emby appeared to be in /var/lib/emby. After updating to Mint 21, I had to reinstall Emby as it was nowhere to be found. After the install, it appears to be somewhere else other than /var/lib/emby. I was hoping to just be able to restore the emby files from the backup, but no such luck. I did some searching of the drive and now there is a /var/lib/flatpack/app/media.emby.EmbyServer/ folder that contains more folders such as "current" and "x86_64". Hopefully someone who knows a little more about this than I do can explain the changes or at least point me in the right direction. I do have it up and running. But I've basically had to reconfigure from scratch. Would have been so much easier just to be able to cut and paste config info from a backed up old folder to the new. Currently running 4.7.8.0 Not even sure what my older version was.
Luke 42078 Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 hi @KennyG944, it sounds like you installed our flatpak version and not the native Ubuntu/Debian package, right?
KennyG944 1 Posted January 5, 2023 Author Posted January 5, 2023 (edited) I must have. Honestly, I couldn't even tell you the difference. Once installed, how much difference is there between the two? What are the pros and cons of flatpak vs Ubuntu package? In Mint, I'm pretty sure I went to the Software Manager and just installed what showed up when I searched for Emby. Luke 42078 Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 It just means you're running through the flatpak runtime as opposed to natively in the operating system. They will both work, although the extra layer of flatpak can sometimes require additional setup on your part to ensure Emby Server has access to everything on the system that it needs.
