Emby-Next-Gen Kodi Fire TV issue

Recommended Posts

I installed the Emby server on my synology NAS and configured everything and added my tv shows to the library. These all show up on the server. I also installed the Kodi package on my Nvidia Shield (Emby-Next-Gen) where it works perfectly. I see all the shows, can play then, the current position is shown on the Emby server etc. When I do the same on my Kodi Fire TV 4K it also shows all my tv shows, and when I try to resume one it also shows the current position. But the problem is when trying to play something, whatever file/tv show I try they all give the same error message 'One or more items failed to play. Check the log for more information about this message'. Below is the part of the log that I can see on the Emby server at the time I tried to play the video. Any idea what I can/need to do to get this fixed?

Ummm if we are talking about a FireTV Stick, why does it say:

Seems like wrong part of the log.

That is strange indeed. Not sure if the FireTV app is writing the log to the server then? Attached is the complete Embyserver log file hopefully this helps.

Maybe rotate log file on server, and just start 1 movie on fireTV and repost new log.

But why are you using KODI on FireTV, why not the native Emby app ?

I did rotate the log files and then tried to play 3 episodes with all the same issue. Attached the log file but it looks like it not adding anything to the log file. Anything I can do to fix that as well? I will also try the native Emby app, didn't know that that one existed. But still would like to try and get Kodi working as well if possible :)

As I‘m not using KODI on Fire, I can‘t help you there. Just to be sure:

FireTV -> Kodi -> emby-next-gen (Addon Mode ?) -> Emby Server on Synology (nativ or docker ?)

The emby next gen module in Native mode (can try the other mode if that can help?) And on Synology the server runs native as my nas doesn't support docker (older nas). Thanks for the help!

Don't use native mode. This is for edge cases and just causes troubles if you are not an expert in Lan/Network infrastructure.

btw, native/addon mode for next-gen plugin has nothing to do with Emby server. It defines how to access the content.

Just did a fresh re-install and choose the addon mode but still the same issue. I see all my files/episodes but when I try to play them it says that the file is not available

I saw in your logfiles, that you used the DNS-Name, was that auto-discovered ?

Might be worth a try using the IP instead.

It is indeed auto generated the dns name. I just tried with the Ip instead but same issue unfortunately.

Hmmm I'm at wits end, I'd really try the native emby app and see how that behaves.

Please upload a kodi.log for review

Thanks again for the help, below the link to the kodi log file I just generated. I tried to run a few Wednesday episodes and Welcome to Wexham episode which failed with the same error message regarding the file not existing.

You are using native mode and you cannot access your network share. Not a plugin issue, as I told you. Native mode only causes troubles. You need to fix network/permission issues or change to addon mode.
