Transcoding issues on Docker (WSL2)

Hi there,

I'm switching to using Docker for Emby, it runs really well apart from some odd behaviour with transcoding:

I enabled hardware transcoding by making my Nvidia GPU available in Docker, it is recognised and shows activity when playing a 4k movie. However in task manager, the GPU shows 100% video encode and roughly 25% decode. In the stats for nerds, it says 'Recovering from playback error'.

When playing the same file using Emby server for Windows, there are no playback errors, and in task manager, the GPU values are reversed, so high decode (100%), low-ish encode (50%).

Attached the logs from Emby for Docker. Any ideas what's going on here?

Hi, how did you configure hardware transcoding in emby server settings?

Hi @Luke, thanks for picking this up.

I've had it set to enable hardware acceleration yes and HDR tone mapping. These are the same settings as when using Emby server for Windows (where it does work correctly). I've also tried the advanced option with NVDEC selected (same outcome) and CUVID selected (significant issues during playback).

Thanks,
Thijs

Hi, are these tests from inside the same local network as the server?

Hi Luke, I've tested both, same result

Hi @kooapk, if you have Emby Premiere, then it's already enabled by default. There is nothing else you need to do. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !
