karldonteljames 3 Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 I have three questions about video playlists: 1) Can I make a playlist for something like the marvel or star wars collection whereby I can put them in an chronological order, rather than release date and resume the playlist at any point? 2) Is it possible to make a playlist (ideally automatically) of a collection of TV shows (e.g. the Chicago Fire, P.D.. Med etc.) that will automatically add new episodes in their original air order? so like a collection I suppose. being able to do with other type's of cross over shows would be really great too 3) Is is possible to make a playlist of a few shows, so for example a "Children's TV" playlist which might include things like Pepper Pig, PJ Masks, Curious George, Paw Patrol etc, or Family Comedy" like friends, the big bang theory, blackish etc. That can automatically play the next episode in each? Kind of like a TV channel. I guess this information is already in Emby with the air date, (for the second question) I just didn't know if i had missed this in the last 5/6 years of using Emby. Any advice, or help on this would be really helpful. Thank you.

You can make a playlist like you mention, but there's no resume on playlists. You have to find the point you stopped at and start up manually. 44 minutes ago, karldonteljames said: 2) Is it possible to make a playlist (ideally automatically) of a collection of TV shows (e.g. the Chicago Fire, P.D.. I have it setup so I see the latest episodes in my Latest TV row, and I add to the end of my playlist when new episodes are recorded. 46 minutes ago, karldonteljames said: 3) Is is possible to make a playlist of a few shows, so for example a "Children's TV" playlist which might include things like Pepper Pig, PJ Masks, Curious George, Paw Patrol etc, or Family Comedy" like friends, the big bang theory, blackish etc. That can automatically play the next episode in each? Kind of like a TV channel. It will automatically play the next episode in the playlist if you start from the playlist. But once you stop, and go back in, it'll start from the beginning unless you select which episode you want to start with.
karldonteljames 3 Posted December 29, 2022 Author Posted December 29, 2022 I'm not sure a playlist is what i mean in that case, i wouldn't want to resume the playlist from where i left off, but would want to play the "next up" within the series's that are part of the collection / playlist - Define it as a channel if you like.

Ah, we'll, then yes, you can do that. That's just a Playback setting where you enable it to play the next episode automatically.
karldonteljames 3 Posted December 29, 2022 Author Posted December 29, 2022 I'm not sure I've asked the question correctly, I would like to playback the next episode that aired within a group of shows, not just one. e.g. The Chicago TV Series (Fire/PD/Med.)

Ah, ok, that you can NOT do IF you try to return to that list at a later time. You can binge watch and it will go to the next item in the playlist, but if you stop and return to it the next day, you'll have to go to the spot in the playlist that you want to start. You'll also have to manually order the videos by air date since there's no sort by air date in playlists. It is a bit of a pain to get it set up at first, but you can directly edit the xml playlist which makes it a bit easier. You just have to remember to scan the playlist library after you save your edits in the xml playlist. I hope I understood the question correctly.
karldonteljames 3 Posted December 30, 2022 Author Posted December 30, 2022 Thanks That's a shame. it would be great to have some kind of plug in that you could create a "channel" from, where by you select a set of shows, and it would just cue them up either one at a time from each show playing the next unwatched episode, or playing one at a time looking at the air date of all of the episodes. Thank you for your help.
MBSki 1114 Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 Just now, karldonteljames said: Thanks That's a shame. it would be great to have some kind of plug in that you could create a "channel" from, where by you select a set of shows, and it would just cue them up either one at a time from each show playing the next unwatched episode, or playing one at a time looking at the air date of all of the episodes. Thank you for your help. Agree. I think there might be plans to add air date as a sort option for playlists, but it's not available yet. A few sort options were recently added, but not air date. 1
karldonteljames 3 Posted December 30, 2022 Author Posted December 30, 2022 Not just the ability to sort by air date, but to resume a playlist would be helpful too. The same as being able to resume an album (music) Rather than having to start it again. How does one go about creating a video playlist?
