Problem with subtitles on Chromebook

Recently got an Asus C214 Chromebook which plays Emby beautifully. However, there is an issue with subtitles in that it will intermittently display the subtitles. Sometimes the subs will play perfectly for about 10 seconds then nothing for the next load of dialogue and randomly then start displaying subs again after a short time. Please note that if i touch the screen to bring the play bar up then the subs play perfectly fine behind the translucent play bar. What could be causing this?

Actually not actually an issue since i can play on Chrome and works perfectly.
