danywilde36 0 Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Hi , is it possible to add an option to enable / disable Dolby Vision ? This option exist with VimuPlayer , and it's a good way to eradicate troubles with some DV releases... Thanks ! ' And sorry for my bad English but I'm French ! )

ebr 16169 Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Hi. What exactly do you mean by "disable Dolby Vision"?
justinrh 260 Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 I would think he meas to turn off that functionality, in other words, have it not work. E.g., Shield has an option to turn off Vision.
danywilde36 0 Posted December 29, 2022 Author Posted December 29, 2022 You're right , even if I can disable Dolby Vision directly on the Shield , I would like to disable DV from time to time on the Emby Client because sometimes DV profiles ( FEL , MEL , 5 , 7 , 8.... ) make troubles. I can do it with VimuPlayer ( it downgrades to HDR ) which is based on Exoplayer too so....why not with Emby client !

At this time, emby doesn't recognise the fact is is DV to begin with... on a directly play, it simply passes through the video - it is the playback hardware then recognise as having a DV encode and it activates DV. Once emby gets DV identification (soon I think), then I too think this would be a nice addition - maybe in the Diagnostic Options Plugin as a temporary 'switch'. @softworkz
laola 12 Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Hi everyone, I wasn't aware that Emby supports Dolby Vison with Fire TV. Is it the fire TV Cube V3. only or are there other Fire TV devices which are supporting Dolvy Vison ? And is Audio Passthrough supported at the same time (so connect the Fire TV to the AV receiver (which supports DV passthrough) ? I really would consider to buy a Fire TV when DV and Audio Passthrough is supported (today I am using CoreELEC Kodi V20 and and I am fully satisfied - except the missing DV support).

Take a look here - https://developer.amazon.com/docs/fire-tv/device-specifications.html The latest FireTV 4K Max and latest Cube definitely support DV.
laola 12 Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 (edited) thanks - very helpful. So everthing which is supported by the FireTV itself is also supported by the Emby app - correct ? Edited January 10, 2023 by laola

Lazarus_Long 80 Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 Dolby Vision works on the FireTV 4K stick - as long as the DV layer is MEL, not FEL. If it's FEL, you get audio but a blank screen. My TV recognizes that it's a DV source but won't display it. With MEL is recognizes and displays properly.
