GregMo 24 Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 I have a handful of movies and shows that are missing images such as these. I've verified that in "edit images" that the 'Primary' image is there, and it shows in the context menu for both items, and when going into the item's page. For the TV shows, when viewing the season the items are in, the image shows for that episode. I'm wondering if there's some reason that Emby skips showing some issues on the home screen?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 @GregMo Would need to see server log and if browser possibly browser console if there are error.
GregMo 24 Posted December 24, 2022 Author Posted December 24, 2022 Well, this has been going on for a long, long time. Which log should I upload. It's not a browser issue as the problem persists across the web, and both Firestick and Roku apps.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 @GregMo If it happens in all clients the server should reflect a issue.
GregMo 24 Posted December 24, 2022 Author Posted December 24, 2022 Yeah, I'm sure it's with the server, just curious how to debug what the issue would be. I've looked for everything I can think to look for. I'm guessing these lines from the log is where the server is reporting that it's not going to return the image but no insight as to why. 2022-12-23 19:59:07.410 Debug Server: http/1.1 Response 500 to ::1. ebr 16184 Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 Hi. Please attach the entire log or look in the browser console for errors. Those little icons top left indicate a bad link.
GregMo 24 Posted December 24, 2022 Author Posted December 24, 2022 Well, they indicate a null response from the server. As mentioned above, the images are missing across three different types of clients so it's certainly an issue with the server. Log file attached. embyserver (1).txt

Luke 42078 Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 @GregMo are you still running into this? Is Windows fully up to date?

I'd agree with you, as that is the missing image, however, this is the exception instead of the rule, and I can access this image just fine with a web browser running on the same machine. GregMo 24 Posted December 26, 2022 Author Posted December 26, 2022 (edited) 3 hours ago, Luke said: @GregMo are you still running into this? Is Windows fully up to date? Yeah, windows is good. I'm not having issues with anything else, and most every tv show and movie works just fine. So far, I only know of one tv show and one movie that it's doing it to. The link above that was posted with an SSL error opens just fine in both Chrome and Brave. It's funny, too, that some of the images for those items download just fine. In the case of Miracle on 34th St, both the primary and backdrop images downloaded fine while the logo and thumb images are missing. Edited December 26, 2022 by GregMo
Luke 42078 Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 Hi, are you still having an issue with this?
GregMo 24 Posted January 7, 2023 Author Posted January 7, 2023 On 1/4/2023 at 2:24 AM, Luke said: Hi, are you still having an issue with this? Some, yes. Not sure why Emby is failing to retrieve the images from the scrapper sites because when I follow the same URL for the image in my browser it opens fine. It's not a lot of titles, but enough to make it noticeable.
GregMo 24 Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 Whatever this issue is, I'm apparently not the first to experience. Found this thread with the exact same problem, now that I know more about what's going on...
seanbuff 1316 Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 @GregMo what version of Windows is your Emby Server running on?
GregMo 24 Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 Mine's running on Win8. I've been running Emby on this machine since before Sept 2020 and this problem has only recently popped up so it's not an issue with the version of Windows. The other user that saw the change also had it come up suddenly on a long running server. From the other thread, and my experiences, I'm guessing that FanArt.Tv changed their SSL security settings several months back and the external routines Emby uses for some reason don't work with their settings now.

Yup, and because you're running what's considered a legacy version of Windows now, your system is probably trying to negotiate a much older version of SSL cipher suites. This is not an Emby problem, it's a Windows issue. Have you ever used IISCrypto to modify those in the past? 1
GregMo 24 Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 Well, not really a Windows issue, but we'll ignore that rabbit hole for now. As for IISCrypto, no, I've not used it. I have it downloaded now, though, and when the issue next presents itself, I'll give it a whirl.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 (edited) @GregMoReally no different than the issues seen in Windows 7 and Server 2012 and TLS 1.2. You have to adjust your OS settings and IISCrypto is the easiest route beside many editing the registry. Edited January 14, 2023 by Happy2Play 1
GregMo 24 Posted January 15, 2023 Author Posted January 15, 2023 Hmmm. I downloaded IIS Crypto and ran it. Didn't seem to have much in the way of options outside of what protocols to enable. I went with the "Best Practices" option which included all the TLS versions, clicked apply, rebooted and still no joy.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 @GregMo Did you look at the ciphers suite? As I just enabled a couple on Windows 7 to allow it to work and not get the TLS alert: 'HandshakeFailure'. FanArt TLS 1.2 suite via SSLLabs.
GregMo 24 Posted January 16, 2023 Author Posted January 16, 2023 Where does one find that screen you're showing? I've checked everything I can find in IIS Crypto and it looks like all the TLS_ECDHE_* suites are enabled, but not the TLS_DHE_* suites.

That was from ssllabs.com testing "https://assets.fanart.tv" server. GregMo 24 Posted January 16, 2023 Author Posted January 16, 2023 Okay, this is interesting. I verified with https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/secauthn/tls-cipher-suites-in-windows-8 that those two suites are available on Win8 but they're not showing on IIS Crypto.
GregMo 24 Posted January 16, 2023 Author Posted January 16, 2023 Okay, more info. Apparently those two suites were added with an update that my system never received. The really cute thing is that I can't add the update now because Windows Update server requires updated SSL too.
