Are you checking from outside of your LAN - ie from a 3/4/5G Mobile (with wifi disabled) or a VPN ?

Is emby listening ok on the internal port (8096) - ie can you get to it from a local browser ?

I tried on a different Wi-Fi network and it didn't work, in addition to that it works inside the internal network
Also, I don't use a vpn

ok, by different do you mean somebody elses wifi unrelated to your own network ?

The reason I ask, is unless your router has been configured to do so, testing internet 'incoming' traffic from within your own network may not work.

Try using a mobile on 3/4/5G etc with the wifi turned off - or ping me your WAN IP if you like (over PM) and I can test for you.

The point is that I want to share with someone outside the network, so I want to open the port. I actually tried using 4G on the phone without activating Wi-Fi and it did not work. I will send WAN information to you for the experiment.

And If you leave the WAN/External Source blank?

Doh! - you are correct - External SOURCE WAN Port should be 1-65535 - not 8096.  Same for 8920.

edit - just looked up the router on portforward.com - yes, leaving it blank will achieve the same thing.

Both fields would be populated - field on the left would be 1, field on the right would be 65535.  ie 1 > 65535 (All available SOURCE Ports)

But blank achieves the same thing - I think we both looked on portforward at the same time haha.

@rbjtech Think we are talking about different fields as I mean External Source IP address.

🤪

Internal Host - Users Emby server - 192.168.100.x - but no idea what that field is after it ?

External Source IP - Should be 'ANY' - maybe Blank does this - not sure

Protocol : TCP

Internal Port Number : 8096

External Port Number (Normally referred to as the Destination Port) : 8096

External Source Port : ANY or 1:65535 or Blank ;)

then copy for 8920 ..

I agree. All external sources should be left undefined or wide open. Otherwise you are whitelisting those sources.
