Live TV stops for a second and starts again

Hi

Recently I installed MB with I use it to watch live TV from my two DVB-T tuners from PCTV systems.

I find MB an excellent tool for watching TV but I am facing some nuisance which I think can be resolved.

First of all when I watch TV the stream freezes for 1 second and starts again. This happens

once in a min or maybe more. I have adjust the bitrate to 480-720kbits because my upload is 1024Kbits

in order to guarantee that at least the bitrate is ok.

Under the plugins-channels I have adjust the preferred internet quality to best available.

I assume this settings instructs serverWMC to send the original stream. (serverWMC and MB are on the same computer)

Is there any setting that I have to do on those config files so I can avoid this freeze?

Also how can I add my own bitrate or if you can push the 480-900Kbits?

I would like to get the best picture on the upload that I have. The most of ADSL connections the upload limit is around 1Mbit

so by adding the 900Kbits rate we guarantee we get the maximum.

More I would like to suggest if you can add an instant Record/stop button on the viewing stream?

Finally I want to ask if we can record/view at the same time for people who have multiple tuners

especially in the case that 2 or more streams are coming from the same multiplexer/transponder

Thanks

Are mbs and swmc on the same machine?  Also, do you still get this problem if you run chrome on the same machine as mbs?

Interesting question

The mbs is on the same server with swmc

I am 10000 km away from the stream server and now I logged in with Teamviewer and I think I don't see the problem (TeamViewer is not the best

to watch TV).

Also I installed NextPVR and the plugin so I can find out if the problem comes from the swmc and I see the same behavior.

It is very interesting that I see the problem with all browser with Firefox being the worse.

In Chrome the stream stops for a second and continues but in firefox the stream stops way worse and for more time (i.e 2-3 seconds)

My upload speed of the adsl is 1024Kbits and the bitrate I chose is 480p-720Kbits. I wish if I had 900Kbits

Also I have a Broadway from PCTV systems (a dedicated stream box) and I have 2 usb tuners from PCTV along with the PCTV application

Both they have the same web look and from the broaway I watch TV using 900Kbits (no problems at all) and from PCTV (using the usb tuners)

I watch at 700Kbits (the next one is 1Mbit and it is a bit high for the upload speed).

So both are fine at 700/900Kbits. I am trying to rule out the upload speed.

It seems to me without being sure that Chrome looses the synchronization to the stream.

Can I edit any config file so I can add a bit latency (maybe 1000ms) just to check if this is the problem?

Anything else you can suggest?

I am using the latest Chrome (as of today).

It streams for few mins and then it stops for a second and starts again.

It does that every few mins.

I can take this one from here to relieve you :)

Does the issue occur at the lowest bitrate the web client offers?

Hi

I have a mb server where the upload speed is 1Mbit and I try to watch live TV

but even at 668Kbits the stream freezes, roku keeps reloading when it starts

it goes to a look of the last few seconds.

Has anyone else faced this issue?

Also is it possible to push some more bitrates for SD resolution

i.e 900Kbits, 800Kbits, 950Kbits (around the upload rate of an adsl

Thanks

It seems it does not occur at the 480p-420kbits bitrate.

I also disabled one tuner in order to see if issue is coming from the tuner but it seems not (I still need to try the second tuner alone)

Also I face the same issue with Roku and I am not sure if it is related.

I noticed that after the first 10 mins the issue becomes less apparent.

I will do more experiments and I will update you

Thanks for your help

I forgot to add that small behavior here.

When the channel freezes for 1-2 seconds the stream continues from where it was stopped.

It does not seem that to skips the frames and to continue from the new timeline

Hi Luke

I checked the transcode log file and I saw some errors during ffmpg

I am not sure if these errors are relevant but I installed the xcodec tools which and I found the mediainfo tool

I analyzed the stream from the tuner and the details are in the attached file

Also with the codec Tweak tool I can setup the preferred filters codec etc

Do you suggest something specific?

Hi

After spending days of checking log files, capturing the DVB stream, analyzing it, capturing the webm stream I think I might have found all my problems and I would need your help.

As I mentioned earlier my adsl upload speed is 1Mbits and a quite powerful computer (core I5).

I have 2 DVB-T tuners from PCTV and I use their application which is called PCTV Center. The maximum stream that I can get is  900Kbits and the picture quite good.

Now in Mediabrowser the max we have is 720Kbits.

My problem is that the stream stops and starts again. It does it every 2 mins and especially at the beginning. I think after 5 mins of watching TV is getting better.

I measured the speed that I am getting from my router (Asus AC68) and from the remote router (Vigor) and I found out that even

my streaming profile is 720Kbits the actual speed sometimes jumps to more than 1Mbits (which in this case is limited from the adsl upload speed).

I have checked the ffmpeg settings and I see the maxrate is 592Kbits and 128kbits for the audio total 720 but I am not sure if these settings (especially for the video)

are average or peak?

Without being expert in ffmpeg I can imagine that ffmpeg should be transcoding variable bit rate with average and peak 720Kbits.

Thanks
