Hi.  We do not collect any phone numbers.

When I was logging in today for the first time in a long time it prompted me for my phone number like this "***-***-**89."  I barely remembered my old number or I would not have been able to log in.  After entering my (old) phone number, it allowed me to get a code in my email to finalize the login.  So, it's remembering my number somewhere.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Hi.  Exactly what were you logging into?

Correction, I was on the screen to pay for premier, but it's the same login that I used here.  When I entered my email address, the first field on the pay screen, it wanted to verify me.

This sounds like maybe  you were validating your credit card?  If so, it is probably your bank or Google Pay or whatever payment method you were attempting to use that was issuing that prompt.  Our system has no phone numbers and would never ask you for such.

Well, it's not worth delving into this too much deeper, but that cannot be correct.  My account that I used to pay today does not have my old number associated with it.  It was definitely a verification that popped up on your pay screen as soon as I entered my email address on the pay page.  I entered my old number and it allowed me to get a code from link.co to continue paying.  It resulted in a code for premiere access so I have to assume it was nothing nefarious.

We use a 3rd party for payment processing (Stripe) so that verification was through them but would have been associated with either your bank or some other previous payment you may have made on the Stripe network (some other provider also using them).  I'm not sure where it came from but it was definitely nothing that we collect or store.

Thanks for the support.

I can totally relate to that! I’ve had similar experiences where I was asked for an old phone number I barely remembered. It’s kind of crazy how these systems store that info, even if we haven’t used it in a while.

I’ve actually started using disposable phone numbers for creating online accounts, especially for services where I’m not too sure about the long-term commitment or security. It makes things a lot easier because you don’t have to worry about those forgotten old numbers or getting bombarded with unwanted messages.
