My media is on multiple lines

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hello,

I have had the problem for quite some time now. My media are separated on 2 lines whether it is on the web, ios (6 lines: 2x6), windows.

I don't know if I am the only one or if the problem affects several people.

For iOS I'm on the beta and even when switching back to an older version the problem appears.

For the web and windows my screen is a FullHD (1920x1080). If I reduce the size of the window everything appears on one line.

I tried to empty the cache, to change browser but the problem persists.

I saw this topic but there was no concrete answer.

And I had participated in this one but it was basically for Android.

Bagul,

Mobile has different CSS.  It is designed to do this with the My Media.  If you wish to change it, you can edit in Admin  dashboard / Server / Settings./ Custom CSS.  Changing css styles is challenging.  To make mobile different, you need to declare an area of the CSS styles to be for mobile only.  You also need to consider different phones sizes and Widescreen format, if you want to support all options.  There is a forum section that discusses these type of changes.  Perhaps have a look to see if this something you would like to do. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/forum/144-web-app-css/

I can post some examples here, but it's probably better if you look there and ask the question again.

Thank you for your answer but I would like it to be like before. I don't want to apply CSS or anything.

Bag,

The design was chosen to be like it is after reviewing mobile preferences and ease of use for desktop. It happens to be a design you would like to change.  So, you can change it.  It's sort of like buying a Ford and then saying it is not enough like a Toyota.  It is, what it is.

Where are you getting this information from? Bagul is right, this is a bug.

'My Media' should be a single row on any device other than a desktop.

CSS has no affect on client apps outside of the web app.

I don't really understand what you are talking about.
Initially the "My media" section was on one line as seanbuff said. Some people said that they had this section on 2 lines or more and this has been solved (see the topic in my first post) on android if I understood correctly.

There was a horizontal scroller before, however it looks to have been change to a block type container to show all the my media items without scrolling.

The scroller does still appear when my media items are set to the small version.

which app chef? as the horizontal scroller is still present for me in all apps except the web app in desktop mode - which has been the case for a while now

I noticed that if I ever reduce the width of my screen on desktop or on the web the scrolling of the my media section comes back.

This seems to be working the same way for me as it was before. It's still one single row under 1280px wide. Over that you get the wrapping. It's been like that for a long time.

(I know it's on an application)

You were referring to Theater and/or Web app to which I replied, as there it was and it is wrapped for a long time on higher resolutions. Once you lower resolution or decrease window size, it'll go in single row:

As far as mobile app goes, there it is and should be single scrollable row and I believe that is a bug in that iOS app, same as it was in one of the recent Android app versions and it was rectified fairly quickly so I guess it'll get sorted sometime soon.

Indeed I just tried and the image sizes were smaller for the "my medias" section on the previous versions which displayed everything on one line for me.

I already tried to reduce the size of the images in the options but I had to add too much library to fit on one line

For local Web app (not hosted Web app nor Theater) you can use CSS:

On 10/9/2022 at 11:17 AM, Happy2Play said:
div.homeSectionsContainer div.section0 div.scrollSlider {
    flex-wrap: nowrap;
}

For size of the My Media cards only, you can use:

div.section0 .backdropCard {
    width:11.5vw;
}

(adjust width value as desired).

Both codes assume your My Media row is first section (section0).

Looks like the Android mobile app is still using a scroller when the icons are small.

It's single scrollable row for me regardless of the image size, from Default both up and down, till Extra large. 3.2.90.

Aha, Sorry.  Thanks for making that clear.
