Have you looked into that? I just want from the Emby Theater GUI (theater machine) the player to 1)Open 2)Start Playing and then close and return to Emby Enviroment. How the syntax must be ? I forgot. Premiere already bought few weeks back. Edited December 18, 2024 by SeasideGR
Luke 42077 Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 How did you configure the external player? 1

The fullscreen argument via emby theater ? or from the application ? Now i'm trying to figure out why when i call the player the sound is not proper. MadVR works because i see this from the task manager in cpu/gpu load and from the processes. I bought the 119USD license Edited December 18, 2024 by SeasideGR
Guest Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Be aware that there is no external player support in the new app.

For unknown reason WHEN Emby calls the MPC IF i choose subtitles SRT (over the Emby interface) then the player locks in AC3 5.1 and H264 and the server starts transcoding. If i choose embedded subtitles (hardcoded) in the mkv the the file plays ok but no automatic frame switch.

But the internal player does support what you mention here.

During the beta, this question came up only once and from the 80 beta participants, there wasn't anybody using this (or at least didnt tell), and as this is a very case-dependant feature, you need to have a group of people available which are using this feature (in various ways) and providing feedback. Also testing such a feature which has so much intersections with another feature under test (normal video playback) will sooner or later turn everybody mad, because then you have two groups of people which are talking about two very different things but with the exact same words, subjects, phrases, and quickly nobody knows anymore about what the other is talking about. So, planned - but not there yet. 2
Mahinepua 81 Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Having used many external players and filters (not including mpv) I havent come across anything as good as Emby Theater with the embedded MPV. 3

I think we've arrived at a comprehensive video playing system. Personally, I have no use for an external player, but over the years I've seen many who swear by it (the MadVR gang). I think mpv is better. There are more suggestions I can provide to make Emby for Windows (mpv) more granular, possibly other options not yet provided, but for now, what we have is fairly robust. I think using an external player is unnecessary....

SeasideGR 0 Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 (edited) Thank you ALL for your time and your answers. As is right now with external player and with only argument {path} MPC-HC with MadVR works (low to medium processing) audio is passed normally all codecs. CPU load 15 to 20 percent and APU part 65 to 70 percent with the 8600G. Now for better results minimum a 3060 TI or a 7600/7700XT for higher processing. Edited December 19, 2024 by SeasideGR

(I've been using the non-store Emby Theater up until this point) I specifically use it to launch VLC when DVD or Blu-ray ISO disc images are selected. This is the best way I've found to experience that content how it was intended - shy of going back to a physical media player, that is.
Mahinepua 81 Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Do you have many discs? I ripped all mine to mkv and store on hard drives much more convenient, faster loading etc. but you’ll lose menus.
Monkolf 3 Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Yes, I have hundreds of physical discs that have been ripped and stored on my NAS. I, too, rip the main titles to .mkv for playback on non-Windows clients. I realize all of the disc extra features can be ripped as well, but that is not nearly as convenient (nor as nice) as the full menu experience of the disc, IMO.
softworkz 5066 Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 External player support for both, video and games is planned for a future update.
