Converting subtitles directly into video

Was watching a movie on roku and it had converting subtitles directly into video can this be turn off or disable?

HI, just turn off the subtitles altogether prior to playing.

Or even after it starts playing - arrow down, select "CC" icon and then "None".

Log into your Emby dashboard as that user and choose App Settings.

 

 

Find the Subtitle mode and choose No subtitles. Now you must always enable subtitles to see them. Enjoy.

Note: The remember subtitle track selections can also be unchecked if you do not want Emby to remember which subtitles you have enabled. If you always want them to start disabled uncheck Remember subtitle track selections too and also clear saved track selections.
