Audiomixer 374 Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 (edited) Which version of emby server are you installing? Did you follow this tutorial? https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159319-library-setup On my synology, the pathing would look like something like this. When you add the path, it should look like this below. That window one can scroll through to find volume1. Highlight that and it should open up to the folder or folders where your media is. Also make sure permissions are set correctly. In synology Control Panel go to Shared Folder and highlight your folder with your media. Click edit and then permissions. Change from local users to system internal user. Make sure permissions are set as below. Edited December 11, 2022 by Audiomixer 1
irakem 1 Posted December 12, 2022 Author Posted December 12, 2022 Yes but I will try again. The picture I attached is what I have. Never got the drill down on the menu
Audiomixer 374 Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 I would check the permissions first. The picture you posted shows a path that would not be correct for emby server on synology.
irakem 1 Posted December 13, 2022 Author Posted December 13, 2022 Well I think i'm closer i checked the emby permissions they seem right. the system now takes the paths as shown in the picture. nothing seems to import? /volume1/Emby and optional \\192.168.1.16\slice-hd\music
Luke 42077 Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Hi, why do you think nothing seems to import? did you wait for the library scan to finish?

Your synology path should look like “/volume1/slice-hd/music” and for now, i would dump the alternate path as well. What version of server did you install?
irakem 1 Posted December 13, 2022 Author Posted December 13, 2022 (edited) Embry server is 4.7.10.0-704071000 5 hours ago, Audiomixer said: “/volume1/slice-hd/music” and for now, i would dump the alternate path as well. there is no folder like that. slice-hd is on a server with a different IP at 1.16 synology is at 1.19 the Synology under Vol 1 has only the shared dir Emby and except for the recycle bin it is empty. Audiomixer 374 Posted December 14, 2022 Posted December 14, 2022 So your media such as tv and movies and music do not reside on the synology nas but on a different device?
Audiomixer 374 Posted December 14, 2022 Posted December 14, 2022 (edited) Perhaps @cayars can help with this. I was assuming your media resides on the nas. Edited December 14, 2022 by Audiomixer

irakem 1 Posted December 14, 2022 Author Posted December 14, 2022 Yes I it finished I waited 24 hrs. The directory is empty
Luke 42077 Posted December 14, 2022 Posted December 14, 2022 Please attach the emby server log from the library scan. Thanks.
Luke 42077 Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 Are you able to browse underneath /volume1/emby in the synology file browser?

What's the full path to the music folder?

irakem 1 Posted December 19, 2022 Author Posted December 19, 2022 \\192.168.1.16\slice-hd\music is the full Path to the music this is what I can put in my file manager and see may library

Carlo 4560 Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 OK I understand what's going on. Right now you have /volume1/Emby. Is there any useful directories at that location? If not delete everything and create 3 new directories which will be: Music Movies TV-Shows This will give you: /volume1/Emby/Music /volume1/Emby/Movies /volume1/Emby/TV-Shows These folders are what you will be adding to Emby shortly but first we need to map those directories to the media folders on your other device. Let's start by making sure we give Emby access to /volume1/Emby From the GUI in DSM open Control Panel, click on Shared Folders on the left menu On the right side you will see the share named Emby. Click on that. Click the Edit button up top and a new window will open looking like this: Click the Permissions tab up top. Then in the drop down list box change it to "System internal user" find the "emby" user and click the button to give Read/Write access so it looks like above. Click Save. Close Control Panel. Open File Manager and navigate to your Emby directory which should look like this. Now click the Tools button and select the Mount Remote Folder menu choice followed by CIFS Shared Folder. You may need to do this again using NFS Shared Folder depending on what protocols you have setup, but try CIFS first. Use \\192.168.1.16\slice-hd\music for the Folder: Fill in the account name and password using credentials already setup on the other server. for accounts setup on the server holding your media Enter /Emby/Music for the Mount to address and click the mount automatically on startup If everything was done correctly you will now see all your music in Emby\Music Repeat the same process to mount your Movies and TV-Shows. You can now go back to Emby. Edit the Music library and add the following new path You should not need any other entries. You will do the same for Movies and TV-Shows. as well. It's possible we may need to change permissions on the media files and folders on the Emby Server but we'll cover that next if needed. Let us know how you make out. Carlo
