How to disable subtitles on Live TV

Subtitles are giving me all kinds of problems.  I have tried everything I can to disable them, but then this happens.

This is the evening news and absolutely do not need nor want subtitles.  Options are all set to OFF.

I realize the subtitles are part of the stream coming from the HDHomeRun tuner (OTA signal), but is there a way to not have the ffmpeg process add them directly to the video?  Seems like a waste of good clock ticks.

I had to do some tweaking to get broadcast tv to direct play on my Rokus.

I have things set up like this:

 

 

I can't remember if there was anything else that needed to be adjusted.

You have actually turned them off during playback?

They have never been turned on.

So it sounds like they're getting selected based on your emby user subtitle options. It doesn't make exceptions for live tv. How have you configured them?

As Luke said, they were probably turned on automatically.  During playback, bring up the OSD, select the "CC" icon and then select "None".
