don't understand stats - playing higher audio than original?

Am I misunderstanding the stream stats?   It says it is streaming 7.1 audio, but original is 5.1 audio.  Why (and how) can it stream more channels than the original?  I have a 5.1 sound system.  Using ATV on my Shield.  The video is a BR rip (m2ts), and Media Info says it is 6 channel.

Hi, what does the server dashboard say during this time?

Why would the audio need to be transcoded?  My understanding is that DTS:X is superior to DTS-HD, and my system supports DTS:X.  Does this matter in this case?

Because you can't put dts in hls, so as soon as the container has to be converted, then so too does the audio.

Now that the sidebar is out of the way, what's the deal with the stats info?

If original audio is 5.1 where does 7.1 come from?

Not sure.  I haven't seen that before.
