rrpro 0 Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 Hi I'm currently using a Sony A83J with Emby 4.7.10.0 on desktop and 2.0.83g on Android TV. What happens: any Dolby Vision file plays fine when played from the beginning without a pause or seek. But as soon as I go forward/backwards a few seconds or minutes, the playback totally freezes and never continues. Also if I only play 10min, and return later to "Continue watch from the min.X" it shows the first frames and then freezes again. With any other file format (HDR10, 4K, 1080p, etc) this never happens. File spec in attach. PS: When I click the button "I have problems in the playback", it plays fine but without dolby vision (colors messed up)
ebr 16171 Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 Hi. Can you try sideloading our standard android app on the same device and see how that compares? https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Thanks.
rrpro 0 Posted November 26, 2022 Author Posted November 26, 2022 (edited) Just installed: it loads with the correct image but as soon as I change the timeline, it freezes every 5-6seconds, waits for 15s and then continues a few more seconds. It might seem a problem from the "server" but I have a i9-10900, 64gb of RAM, RTX2060S, M.2 drive and it's a wired network connection. Edited November 26, 2022 by rrpro
pr3dict 33 Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 Im having same issue with dolby vision content on a shield pro. The two issues I have 1 happening forever, second one is new. Trying to play something (anything) for the first time since startup and the app crashed. Almost like it needs to wake up but it doesnt do it fast enough and the app crashes. THEN after it goes back to the menu screen I can play anything and it starts. random pauses of video using shield. I tried using the LG TV emby app and that works fine but the shield just keeps pausing and and playing for a few seconds then pauses again. I sideloaded the regular android app, didnt fix it. Attached is my most recent server log. I just played something about 5 minutes ago if you want to look up android app logs. embyserver 221126.txt

Luke 42077 Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 OK sorry I missed that you did this. Would you mind trying it again by downloading the latest version? It has many updates to the video player. Thanks !

rrpro 0 Posted April 2, 2023 Author Posted April 2, 2023 (edited) Update on Android TV with the latest version: any Dolby Vision file plays like in 18-20fps (always breaking) even without seeking. If I choose the "Having Problems with Playback" it then plays almost perfectly, however then takes like 30s to seek to any point on the timeline. Changing bitrate to a lower one, file location (currently on a M.2 ssd), does nothing to help. Edited April 2, 2023 by rrpro

If you choose playback correction in Kodi, it plays fine without DV but everything is purple.
