Brudertac 18 Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 Hi there, new FireTV Cube is here and i´m new to it... There is a Emby App on FireTV Appstore but it looks different than the Android Version. And there is the possibility to Sideload the AndroidTV Version. Which one should used? Whats the differences? Thanks and best regards!
FrostByte 5392 Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 You can install both the Android TV and the standard Android app. You will need to sideload the new standard app though until it gets published to the store.

Thanks. So the AndroidTV Version will replace the FireOS Version in (near?) Future?
FrostByte 5392 Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 The standard app will replace the Android TV app at some point. They just aren't there yet.

arecad98 10 Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 My icon (or lack of) is the same when I sideload the Android version to my Fire TVs.

Yes, it appears that Amazon gets this from the store listing while Google takes it from the app itself. Since it isn't in the store on Amazon yet - no image.
rbjtech 5284 Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 (edited) May I suggest you try the FireTV (AndroidTV) App - personally, it is a much more pleasant experience and will be very fast/responsive on your new FireTV hardware vs the Android App... The FireTV App will also have full integration - ie you can ask your Cube to load emby, search within emby via your voice etc. I don't believe the Android App has any of this ? Brudertac 18 Posted December 5, 2022 Author Posted December 5, 2022 Thanks @rbjtech Currently i use the FireTV App. But i have some Problems with it. Colors are wrong on some Videos.... I still try to find the best Settings for the Cube. Maybe i switch over to a Shield TV Pro. I find that the Cube has way to much Advertising on its Home Screen. Will see...

Will see... hmm ok - Possible good old dolby vision. The latest FireTV devices are actually one of the few devices out there to support all the HDR types - HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. (DV5/8 and DV7) The Shield Pro for example - does not support HDR10+ Edited December 5, 2022 by rbjtech
Brudertac 18 Posted December 5, 2022 Author Posted December 5, 2022 Yeah but that should work out of the box i believe. My TV (LG OLED) switch to Dolby Vision with the Cube. But the Image do look way better with the Emby App on my LG TV... With the Cube Red is Orange sometimes. Dark Scenes looks like there are not enough colors etc... Could that be an Issue with Dolby Vision? The Cube always switch to Dolby Vision. Using the Emby App on my TV it switches to "HDR"...

Way to many variables to give you an exact answer - but if you are direct playing (not transcoding) - then your LG should play DV without any issues at all. To direct play, ensure you are playing a compatible Audio track - EAC3 or AC3 - not True-HD or DTS/DTS-HD Edited December 5, 2022 by rbjtech
