mskenny 8 Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 I've obtained an updated SSL certificate from GoDaddy. I imported it my Windows server as usual and exported a .pfx file. I copied the file to my Synology server and made sure the permissions and ownership were correct (owned by the Emby user.) When I try to specify the new certificate in the UI, it simply reverts back to the current setting and gives me no error. There are no errors in the log either (I had permission issues earlier in the process and those were logged but I fixed that.) How can I tell what is going wrong? embyserver-63804412800.txt embyserver.txt
Luke 42083 Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Hi, what time did you configure it in the UI?
mskenny 8 Posted November 22, 2022 Author Posted November 22, 2022 At 23:05. It says it's saving the configuration, but it doesn't.
Luke 42083 Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Ok looks like the logs you provided are not from that timeframe.
mskenny 8 Posted November 22, 2022 Author Posted November 22, 2022 Sorry, the list was not sorted correctly. Here are more logs. embyserver-63804664585.txt embyserver-63804666713.txt embyserver-63804664665.txt
Luke 42083 Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Did you use the picker to browse to the file or manually type it in? try browsing to it.
mskenny 8 Posted November 22, 2022 Author Posted November 22, 2022 I have tried both. If I use the picker, it ignores what I pick and puts it back the way it was. If I type it in and click "Save," it gives me the warning about messing up the configuration and then just goes back to the way it was without change and without error.
mskenny 8 Posted November 23, 2022 Author Posted November 23, 2022 I tested the .pfx file by importing the certificate to another computer and it worked fine. Any other ideas as to what's going on here? I'd like to replace my cert as it's expiring. Thank you.

mskenny 8 Posted November 23, 2022 Author Posted November 23, 2022 I tested the cert last night. I just re-tested the procedure of changing the cert in the "Network" section. If I use the picker to select /volume1/Emby/config/remote.mskenny23.pfx, the screen shows that file for a second then changes it back (without my intervention) to /volume1/Emby/config/remote.mskenny22.pfx (the current cert.) If I manually edit the certificate location to /volume1/Emby/config/remote.mskenny23.pfx and enter the password then click "Save," it says "Settings saved" but then goes back to the old settings. I've attached the log from my attempts just now, but it says nothing except "2022-11-23 13:07:42.858 Info ServerConfigurationManager: Saving system configuration." embyserver.txt
Happy2Play 9783 Posted November 24, 2022 Posted November 24, 2022 I did this last week and only replaced old with new and restarted Emby. But I used same name but should be irrelevant. Might need debug logging but it does show the edit was saved. Only a startup log will show cert issues also.
mskenny 8 Posted December 1, 2022 Author Posted December 1, 2022 I took Happy2Play's suggestion and renamed the file and gave it the same password then restarted Emby. This has worked around the problem, but this still seems to be a bug in the software. Thanks to Happy2Play.
