Subtitles default language settings

Hi, I have several TV series that are not English subtitles by default and I have to keep selecting English at the start of each episode. Is there a setting where it will automatically default to the preferred language and I won't have to keep changing it myself for each episode? I know I can set this through Tdarr and transcoding my entire library but that would take weeks. I set the language settings for the library to English and that setting is my preferred language however it doesn't work. I keep seeing dutch and German subs until I manually change it again. Is there a way to fix this? Also to set the first audio track to English.

Hi, have you explored your emby user subtitle options?

Yes, it was set to default and I think I should have it set to smart? "Subtitles matching the language preference will be loaded when the audio is in a foreign language."

Yes, it is by default displaying English subtitles now set to smart, regardless of what the default subtitle is on the video file is. Which is perfect, exactly what I wanted.
