There are temporary files in the temp dir and the recording dir why?

As shown here:

tmc@z690:/dev/shm/transcoding-temp$ ls -laph /emby/OTA/NFL\ Football\ \(1970\)/NFL\ Football\ 2022_11_20_16_25_00\ *.ts .
-rw-rw-r-- 1 emby tmc 15G Nov 20 20:03 '/emby/OTA/NFL Football (1970)/NFL Football 2022_11_20_16_25_00 - Dallas Cowboys at Minnesota Vikings - 1.ts'
-rw-rw-r-- 1 emby tmc 28G Nov 20 20:03 '/emby/OTA/NFL Football (1970)/NFL Football 2022_11_20_16_25_00 - Dallas Cowboys at Minnesota Vikings.ts'

.:
total 42G
drwxrwxr-x 5 emby tmc 140 Nov 20 19:53 ./
drwxrwxrwt 3 root root 60 Nov 20 20:03 ../

drwxrwxr-x 2 emby tmc 40 Nov 16 18:07 793F0B/
-rw-rw-r-- 1 emby tmc 28G Nov 20 20:03 7b5e12dde3f24d6bae95445a18ad7d7a.ts
tmc@z690:/dev/shm/transcoding-temp$ du -hd1

0	./38B4F6
0	./41576B
42G	.

They seem to be copies of the recording are these really needed if so can we put them outside or the transcoding-temp dir?

Note, I wanted to use /dev/shm to prevent ssd where, but recordings just keep growing and once the dev is full ALL current recording terminate.

Or do I have something set wrong? (the same game recording was just to demonstrate the problem)

Hi there, did you configure a recordings folder in emby live tv setup?

Here are my settings:

OK, the .ts file that goes into transcode temp is the channel buffer, and the recording is sourced from that, as well as any playback of that channel.

We do plan to limit the space that it uses though in upcoming updates.

Okay, got it.

But does the channel buffer really need to be in transcode temp?

Seams even an old/slow HDD/floppy could handle this?

Wouldn't be easier for emby just to put this elsewhere rather than coding a space limiter?

Where do you think it should go?

I would like it to be configurable. Just like the Transcoding temporary path is now. If not set it  would default to Transcoding temp.

OK yes that is certainly possible.
