Goose48 2 Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 Changed WiFi router. Now my tvs do not respond to my server. What is going on? Any fix out there?
Happy2Play 9781 Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 Have you verified their network info? Have you edited Emby Network page at all? Can any device on LAN connect to your server since this change?
Goose48 2 Posted November 21, 2022 Author Posted November 21, 2022 No verification. No edited on network page and no device connects now. Tried restarting computer. Deleted and reinstalled Emby. Even removed my server and reinstalled and still will not connect. The new router is a Nighthawk..
Happy2Play 9781 Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 With all devices unable to connect suggest Firewall issue. What platform is the server installed on?
Happy2Play 9781 Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 Also this topic suggests wifi frequency, but not entirely sure why.
Solution ebr 16184 Posted November 21, 2022 Solution Posted November 21, 2022 You've completely changed your network so everything needs to be confirmed to be set properly now. One thing I'd be sure and check is that your server (if Windows) did not mark the network as "Public".
Goose48 2 Posted November 21, 2022 Author Posted November 21, 2022 Thank you for the reply. Yes, I've reset everything, TVs, computers, iPad, Ringer, Blink and thermostat. They all are up and running. I've tried other suggestions such as opening port 8 and still no link between my server and TV. I'll try looking to see if my network is public or private. I appreciate any help. Thanks again.
Goose48 2 Posted November 21, 2022 Author Posted November 21, 2022 Thank you everyone. Everything is running smoothy since I switched to a new wifi router.. I have Windows 10 and my computer is hard lined into the router. The only thing not connected is my server is Emby to my tvs. It worked perfectly with the old router. I understand the issue is between the server and the TVs talking to each other. I'll take any suggestions out there. 1
rbjtech 5284 Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 Are the TV's wired or wireless ? If wired and wireless are all on the same network - then there is no reason for them to not connect/find emby. Have you tried uninstalling, wiping the cache/data on the App and then reinstalling emby tv client again ?
ebr 16184 Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 Hi. Did you confirm the network is not public and that the firewall wasn't blocking? 1
Happy2Play 9781 Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 (edited) Yes, need verification of Network type, location will vary on Windows version. Edited November 21, 2022 by Happy2Play
iiiJoe 62 Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 Just wondering what STB you’re using(if any) to connect with Emby for your TV’s? Are they set up on your new wi-fi network?
Goose48 2 Posted November 22, 2022 Author Posted November 22, 2022 Yes, I went to the Firewall and everything checks out. I haven't located the private or public area yet. Windows 10 has many different areas.. I'll keep looking. STB? My computer is hardwired to my router. No wifi for my computers. I have Rokus on my Tvs. As before, all of my TVs and Rokus were working perfectly. My router was old and dropping the streaming signal. Upgrade my router and changed all my TVs, tablets, computers, security systems and thermostat, they are all up and running perfectly. The only issue is the Emby connection with the server. I'll keep trying. Thank you all for your help and suggestions.

Windows key and type network status. Is your LAN wired and Wifi on the same subnet? Can you post a server log after restarting your server. Edited November 22, 2022 by Happy2Play
iiiJoe 62 Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Apologies, STB (set top boxes like Roku or Shield). Can you connect with Netflix or any other App on your Roku? Are you positive your Roku is connected to your new router?
Goose48 2 Posted November 22, 2022 Author Posted November 22, 2022 Here is a screen shot of my Network & Internet
Goose48 2 Posted November 22, 2022 Author Posted November 22, 2022 All my Rokus are working and have excellent wifi reception since I installed the new router. Get every app perfectly. Netflix, Prime, HBO Max look and sound great. Just checked my Network & Internet-Ethernet and notice Public has Network discovery open. Could this be the issue? Again, I thank all of you.
Goose48 2 Posted November 22, 2022 Author Posted November 22, 2022 Just found this. Is This the root of my problem?
Happy2Play 9781 Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 @Goose48 Yes as the firewall rules should be for Private network. I would change that to Private.
Goose48 2 Posted November 22, 2022 Author Posted November 22, 2022 I will change. What about the other Control Panel Public and Private-Turn on network discovery button? They are both on. Should I change Public to-Turn off network discovery? Once all changes are done do I need to restart my computer? Happy2Play, I thank you for your assistance. And all the others who help, thank you and have the best of holidays.

Goose48 2 Posted November 22, 2022 Author Posted November 22, 2022 Absolutely correct. Everything is up and running. All my Tvs are connected and the Emby app is working. Again thank you all
