AsheAshe 8 Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 One of the most frustrating things for me for consuming downloaded media is where there are foreign language parts in otherwise English content, but no hardcoded subs. It seems often when I enable subs they're the full language subs for the entire movie or show. Is there a reliable method to only get subs for these instances via any king of add on or setting?
PaulE123 20 Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 For this I usually manually grab sub files that are tagged as being in english, but for "foreign parts only."
FrostByte 5392 Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 (edited) As long as your internal or external foreign only subtitles are tagged correctly with the forced flag then all you should see are the foreign parts. Edited November 20, 2022 by FrostByte 1
FrostByte 5392 Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 What Emby won't do is extract the foreign parts from a full or SDH internal subtitle file. You will need to either extract the foreign parts from the PGS subtitles yourself, or download foreign only srt subs. 1
rbjtech 5284 Posted November 25, 2022 Posted November 25, 2022 (edited) To add - for any forced/foreign srt subs to automatically play, then you need to add .forced. before or after the country code. So 'filmname.forced.en.srt' or 'filmname.en.forced.srt' For embedded subs in MKV's etc - then unless the 'forced' flag has been set - then they will not automatically play. This is why I generally extract/delete all embedded subs and use SRT's instead. Its generally very easy to identify a 'forced' SRT extracted track as it will only be a few K in file size (if that) as it will have a low number of overall lines spoken vs the main every dialogue SRT. Luke 42077 Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 HI, the hearing impaired status for subtitles, both internal and external will be supported in Emby Server 4.8: Thanks.
